    Why is Overwatch AUD$70?

Overwatch base game in the US Blizzard Store is USD$40. Currently the AUD is equal to 1.35x USD and has been around these levels for quite some time.

Based on this, Overwatch in the Australian Blizzard store should be very close to $40 x 1.35 = AUD$54. It's a staggering 30% more than it should be, way outside of currency fluctuation range.

Every other game is priced roughly equal. Legion is USD$50 which is equal to AUD$67.50, which is roughly the same as the AUD$70 price tag in the Blizzard store. The Origins edition is 60 usd which is 81 aud. That is close to the 90 aud price in store.

Why is the base edition of Overwatch so overpriced in the Australian Blizzard store? Why isn't it AUD$55? Or even 60.

Because of horrible trade practice's from the AU government side, taxes and shipping costs to send vast amounts of trade to the country. And to prevent inflation they tax digital products so not the physical stores will go out of business.

    Not Origins, the base edition.

That would make sense if every game was like that, but other Blizzard games are much better priced like Legion.

Wrong. The base PC-ONLY version if $40, the deluxe is $60.

But to answer OP; It's Australia - We ALWAYS get shafted and you should already know this. Hell; we only just finally got prices of shit on Heroes of the storm reduced for us aussies.

But other products are much moe reasonable. Legion for instance is 50 usd which is 67.50 aud, and 70 aud on the AU Blizzard store.

Blizzard do not pay Australian taxes via digital sales.

And 50 usd equals 67.50 aud, which is almost the same as 70 aud in the aus store, so the pricing is correct.

    Expansion vs new base game?

Completely irrelevant. The overwatch origins edition is roughly correctly priced, just not the base edition.

There are more factors at hand than mere currency conversions

What are those factors? The Origins edition is basically a currency conversion, but the base edition is 30% more after the currency conversion. Why?

Why don't you put in a ticket and ask them.

Well the poster I quoted made it sound like they had some idea as to what those factors were, so I asked. And I've still yet to think of any reason why the origins edition is roughly correctly priced, but the base edition is 30% more after the currency conversion.

Why would a GM know the answer to that question? they don't set the pricing.

Weird, here in Canada, we are lucky.

On PC, we pay 39.99$/59.99$USD BUT we don't pay taxes.

If I buy it on Xbox Live, the price will be 79.99$ (Origins) CAD + 15% taxes. (Even for digital copies)

It just seems to be that one specific product that is completely out of line. The other editions and other Blizzard games are much more reasonable.
