Not presenting both sides in an argument is censorship. It's not our job to decide for the readers. Our job is to provide enough evidence to support our side and that's what this thread is all about.

Criticism on the other hand is welcomed.

Someone's been busy drawing. Only concept art and massive wall of texts. Another 'hope & dreams' MMO. The few in-game screenshots they have only show an empty 'Made in Unity' world. Looks bland.

Why do people not try and make a decent sized SP/co-op game before all these enormous MMO projects...

No, actively suppressing information is censorship. Simply ignoring it is not.

Yeah I don't see a problem with keeping the thread alive detailing their nonsense. Some of us like to read it and I too wanna see the end result of all of this. I think if someone sees this thread and becomes a fan of ToA there's no helping them to begin with.

Alright, maybe I've used the wrong word here. My point still stands though.

and now you all learnt some basics of how investment and risk works, and now know why so many banks and investors arent investing anymore whereever it may be. chances of getting scammed or lose investments is getting higher the more competition and scamming is in that market-branch.

and you as private donor arent even "investing" in terms of buisiness. you are just throwing out some minor donations that may add up sufficiently. ;-)

now you may get to know whats important.

Looks like 2 days of concept art, from a professional illustrator.
    Anything else?

    There's a (dutch) article here:
    http://tweakers.net/nieuws/111091/pa...nes-terug.html
Stating that paypal will no longer be able to give you a refund if you used paypal to support a fraudulent kickstarter.

And of course always interesting and related to this, is the 5 part story we recently did with Myobi and some of the people involved in the greedmonger debacle.

As far as this other team doing a 250k KS and now patreon.. Like I said from the beginning, there is SOOOO much work you can do for free. I have no idea why these guys think it is a good idea to announce a game so far in advance and try to steal money. Keep your head down, do your work, and just trust in your game to make money after it is ready to be played.

No, there isn't. And you may be right. I just wonder at what point their progress in development will fall behind graphic technology to the point their tools are so outdated they have to sit and blow a bunch of time trying to catch it up to new versions.

But I suppose as long as they depend entirely upon volunteers it doesn't matter, if they can keep convincing people to donate their time to the project.

lol REALLY!? a Part 6? what is SO important that it must be said in a part 6? GM is done. I'm done with Game Development. I haven't even touched Unity in a few weeks too much going on in my life at the moment. I'm heading off to College in the fall and moving on with my life. What Could possibly be gained from continuing to drag things out?

Did you really think this would just all suddenly go away simply because you thought it should?

Nope... It should all go away because there is nothing new going on... Why keep rehashing old news? I'm not on KS, paypal, or anything else asking for money. I'm not involved in any scam or money making scheme making money off of the general public. I'm headed off to college where I'm going to be busting my ass to get a counseling degree so I can help others who are going through similar personal situations as my own (Suicide, depression, ect). I'm busting my ass to get my self in shape and follow my dreams so my little cousins who look up to me can see me doing what I continuously tell them to do.

If you REALLY think GM was a scam then go right ahead and believe it but it really shows how little you guys know me. I believed in GM, I believed I could do it, Unfortunately I had so much to learn though. Things didn't go as planned. I couldn't deliver the product. I sure tried though. Believe what you want but for the sake of my self and those who still look up to me I'm moving on and I'm going after my dreams of being able to help others.

Well it won't go away, this will be here for all time and anyone bored enough that ever looks up your name will likely see this thread. That is just the internet. Besides that the thread is more about ToA than GM anyways. Yes GM was a scam in the sense that it took crowd funded money and produced no playable product. You may have believed in GM but you weren't qualified to undertake such a project and you are one of the key reasons it crashed and burned. If someone that was actually qualified was in the position maybe a playable game might have come out, maybe not. But now you and GreedMonger are just one of the many warning signs along the road of crowdfunding to do better research into a product and do not trust people that have no proven track record. The people I feel sorry for in all of this are the people that lost money in this whole process.

If you were really honest with yourself and had come out and said that you just weren't qualified for the job then maybe things would have been different. Instead you decided to try and string it along for as long as possible until people finally understood that a playable game was NEVER coming out of you guys. I wasn't the one that put together some unity crap and tried to pawn it off as some footage from the game, that was you.

Claim the 'moving on' all you want, time will tell if that is really the case. But don't get too mad years down the road when someone recognizes your name and goes "Heh, GreedMonger, damn you guys scammed some people big time"

It's information, records, and archives. The past is not going to go away. Your continued... insistence upon coming back might perhaps say that you want the mistake(s) to go away rather than living up to your mistake(s). Because, these kinds of mistakes create a huge trust issue with any potential person working with/for you, not just in the game development field. Because those were your actions, and what you did during that time, and your responses to what was revealed as to your actions is just as important.

I don't want to make any comments about you and your future (it is what it is). However, do not think that the past will not affect you in your future endeavors and your goals. If you take just one thing from this board, it is something we have stated MANY times: words are just words, take action rather than just speaking words. You know, shut up and do your job. You don't have to tell anyone and everyone about your future (it may sound like you want us to pity you even), just...pursue it.

    "Yet" *

No doubt you'll come up with something again soon.

If you want to develop an RPG, or an MMO,. I would recommend just buying RPG Maker MV,. its only 60$ right now,. and plenty of DLC with extra "content" you can buy and use.
It's such a simple engine you can totally focus on the game and the story. And not have to worry about hiring idiots to do the work for you.
As you've experienced,. that doesn't work.

Good luck to you in pursuit of those plans. The story of GM isn't going away, the record isn't getting expunged. I agree that continuing to harp on it is a bit silly, I really wonder what else there is to say at this point beyond 'it failed, this is why you don't give people with no proven track record money to do something'. But that's the free exchange of opinions for you.

Don't want to be THAT guy but you had me thinking your dream was to be a game developer.

Atleast the dream you pursue right now probably has a higher chance to succeed than what you did previously. Good luck with that, I hope for you that you manage to keep your attention to that and actually succeed.

Anyway, time to do some more advertising:

Finally the first creature has been finished. Only took them between 1-2 months. Few weeks (Months?) further and the launcher still hasn't been finished. I wonder how long they spend time on all this. Probably 1 hour a day if I read stuff like that.

Yeah, what they call sprints are more properly ambles or meanders. But they're paying out nothing, so as long as they don't die of boredom or other causes, I suppose they'll keep inching forward.
