Yeah I didn't wanna flat out come out with "Orwell was only developing ideas from his predecessors" but it is often, nay always, the case I just knew that, at least, the concept of saturising people with shallow distractions so they care less about the "more important" issues has been around for nearly 2000 years

Yeah. And that's not to say 1984 or BNW aren't great in their own ways. I've always favoured the latter. It seems like giving people soma and engineering their social caste would be far more effective than suppressing urges and being in constant cold war.

I found it to be pretty fun watching the pugs reaction. Also people could have:

1. Ignored the video
2. Pressed the dislike button

Luton isn't "The streets of London" and your phrasing implied it was a large number, not 50~ people and a regular occurrence (it's not). Not that any of this is relevant to the thread since, as I mentioned before, Scotland and England have different legal systems.

They're touchy when it comes to Sectarianism and don't want to show favouritism. They're also mindful of perceived anti-semitism since a lot of people are vocally opposed to a lot of what the Israeli state is doing which has been used to label Scotland as anti-semitic by some.

He'll most likely go free, as someone previously mentioned there has to be malice or ill-will which there is no evidence of here. This is just the Police showing they take hate crime seriously.

Not really worth the resources if they're just displaying PR bravado.
