TIL planetary population in Stellaris does not like it when you terraform the globe they're living on. All I did was blast the planet with some high-yield lasers, change the global temperatures a bit, deliver a few trillion cubic kilometres H2O, and now they want independence.

I mean, they should have thanked me! I turned an ice cube world into an oceanic paradise, just like home! But nooooo, and now I had to spend thousands of credits forcing a media blackout on their whining.

I just recently finished a covert infiltration of a pre-FTL planet.

"Our coverts have successfully infiltrated all global powers of the planet. They've just finished signing the deal for us to take control. The population are out in the streets cheering for their new leaders."

The satisfaction of then clicking "enslave all pops on this planet" was immense. Now all that's left is to transport some of our new slaves to other parts of the empire, since I chose the negative Decadent trait when I started.

Stellaris. A great 4X that makes the genre work in real time.

Hah. I made a fanatically materialistic/pacifist race for my first game so I can't infiltrate. Settled for aggressive study of the machine age civ I found, until they unified "against the alien menace". Hue.
