What do you mean "getting off so easily"?

Why are posters coming into this thread and derailing it?
It's actually hard to derail a thread with no track to begin with.

What is this thread about? It's only content is news of a guy getting punishment for a crime he commited, and you saying "Wow! This is really sad that he is getting off so easily. How can this not upset someone."

Where exactly is the question? What are you asking other posters to chime in on? There are many ways you can point this thread, but so far, the only thing on topic we can say is this:

"Wow, that guy got off easy", or, "At least he's getting some punishment"

There's literally nothing of discussion to be made from the OP. So, we are on topic if we say:

    He's getting what he deserves.

Not the same as targeting a minority and making them feel unsafe.
The punishment was appropriate. We punish crimes, not feelings. He's an ahole but his crimes were hardly deserving of prison time. His punishment was inline with domestic violence. It was neither excessive or particularly lenient.

It's about hate crimes and how one minority in the U.S. is being targeted. Maybe if you read the article?

You have a point. What this guy did was stupid and deserves jail time. Also, everything thing you post is stupid so also deserves jail time.

What's your stance when said minority makes other minorities feel unsafe? Or does your Canadian multiculturalism only go one direction?

This crime was handled appropriately. If you want your blood lust sated, I can link you how the racists that killed James Byrd were punished

That is the point! The law is obviously too soft. These hate crimes are making a minority feel unsafe. It's up to the government and the judiciary to do something about it.

When a Muslim man sexually assaults a woman in western society for not wearing a hood nobody says anything

So the law is soft because you don't like the outcome? Ok...

Did this man learn a lesson from this crime? Do you really think a tap on the wrist is going to change a bigot's view?

Tennisace MMO champions biggest troll. He is the persona of the archetypal SJW, we all know his threads and we all hate him but he just keeps on truckin.

You don't get to punish thoughts you don't like. You only can punish actions which violate the law.

    That doesn't answer my questions.

I'm curious how jail / prison will change a bigots view when they tend to self divide into racial groups inside anyways.
