I don't think that the sequels will demand the same amount of time from the first.
As they have already created and established the visuals and the characters/world, in theory it would be faster to continue now .

Dat Comicbook.com upload. 720p we meet again.
(Ok it's not that bad but seriously gimme 1080)
This is the Dark Portal as seen from Azeroth, thats rather sick!
The characters, yeah, some of them. But they may introduce whole new races in the sequels.
The world, not really. Dalaran at most. We don't actually see Blackrock in this movie, and they need to get Lordaeron right.
The magic effects are probably the ones that won't take that long. Fireballs and arcane spells will still be fireballs and arcane spells.
It's an interesting idea, they had to build the portal after crossing it, so how did the "natural" portal look like? The answer is... horizontal!
The guy I was talking about a few days ago finally saw the movie. He gave it a 9/10. Praised visuals, soundtrack, pacing, the fact you'll never get bored with it. He disliked a few CGI shots (but he said he's always super nitpicky about CGI) but liked most of it, he disliked a few plots (I bet he was talking about Garona and Lothar).
He said some battle scenes are intense but in various moments the camera shots got blurred or very shaky (maybe for PG13 reasons). He's confident it will be well received both critically and at the box-office, although it will surely get its haters (like always).
