God damn this topic crawls back no matter how many times you beat it down. No

Watch Blood elves get a high elf subrace and it still be Horde only (Ion said subraces would only be a change cosmetic wise)

Hell I kind of want that just out of spite at this point.

Alliance's high elf chance sailed back in Burrning Crusade.

No amount of lore bending or shitty "race trades" changes that.

Really I think we should do away with all this race categorization, it's not doing Azeroth any good to separate elves into groups based on their ancestry.

nightborne for night elves sub race

high elves for blood elves sub race

    sub race= cosmetic change

Seems anytime a race it talked about going to a faction it's almost always about how horde should get it. Ogre, Naga, Worgen, Vrykul, and now Nightborn. Seriously it's getting old and annoying just stop.
Life doesn’t get easier, we just grow stronger.

That's because the alliance ones just makes noise over the high elves

so true. The alliance can't have anything nice or anything cool. You can always tell when hordies are jealous of alliance race stuff, they keep insisting it should be horde even when it's very clear this is alliance..

tbh all of it could work on the horde. Players don't get that that what makes any race become part of any faction even the most unlikely is just a matter of a little narrative and it's done. Worgen for e.g. though totally alliance, could have easily been horde from where the story before cata left Gilneas - you just needed to say the Alliance didn't trust the Gilneans at all because of their betrayal and being misfits they found acceptance in the horde. Then argue that Gilneas is already in/near Forsaken territory so it makes sense they're horde. Players could see an easy narrative. Easy to see how Worgen could be horde especially that they were cool.
Same with nightborne, they are night elf through and through, no doubt about it, and yet, it's not impossible to see them on the horde either in the narrative. You could easily write the nightborne to bond with the blood elves first, and write the night elves hating their arcane usage - it's believable to players even though that stance doesn't make sense with recent and current lore (but it fits old lore and many don't keep up with the lore and most haven't covered the lore outside the game or they would not be saying that), but the worse is when you see them trying to make as if nightborne have more in common with the blood elves than the night elves, when they only have two things in common, 1) both are an advanced arcane usage society (even though blood elves is an entire Kingdom, nightborne just a city indicating the latter are in much greater need of being part of a bigger society) 2) the nightborne are led by highborne - never mind the two highborne groups are totally unrelated - totally choosing to ignore or not acknowledge the strong highborne influence of night elf past and night elf present showing highborne back in their society, and the city and its people have a relationship with the main night elves, or that similar degree of arcane mastery is where the arcane similarity ends. The rest is night elf through and through.

But I noticed when it comes to night elves, if it's really good, it shouldn't be night elves. if it's crap or losses, or humiliation it's fine. if its just nature its fine. Sadly for night elves, they've been frozen in nearly the same state from start of wow because devs hadn't gotten round to them has left a lot of players with only seeing the nature side. You'd have had to have played as a Nelf to even have a hint there was more to them then nature. And have to have played WC3 to see the amazonian female warrior priest side strongly, and read the lore books, like WotA, the narratives etc to see the arcane side strongly with them. Most do not. They've just played wow. Their experience with night elves outside their starting areas was druidic hyjal and Cenarion circle. It was the only instituion you would most often meet night elves in. The rest is so barely noticed, that even though it's been years since cata, you have to tell people that night elves don't hate the arcane, night elves accepted the highborn and are using magic. They've not seen night elves in any other way than nature hippies. It's not because night elves didn't have other parts that weren't or even play a major part, the devs hadn't gotten round to properly visting them since WC3. Now they have.

Now night elves are a focus, look at how blizzard is showing a lot more to them. Nature side, warrior female/priestess side, arcane side, fierce melee combatant side. For the first time they're expanding the night elves, and they decided to make it coool. They decided that in showing you an anicent pre-sundering night elven city - it would be beautiful and grand, incredibly powerful in the arcane - blood elf level if not more, exactly like the lore has always told you it was, a society in wonders the modern world had not reached yet. But they've only seen night elves in the woods, therefore they think "this can't be night elves" even though everything including the story tells you these are night elves. "Oh, they look different, so they are not" - d'uh it's night elves modified a little but still clearly night elven - a sub-race of them.

Night elves can't have anything advanced or powerful associated with them (they think), because they never have done so in wow. (and that's all these players see). The night elves' last strong showing was in WC3 - in WoW everytime you meet them, they are been beaten, their stuff is lying in ruins (cities) or burnt/deforested (forests), and their arses are getting kicked - and they are rolling over. In legion, they are still getting beaten and pressed, but their fighting is badass amongst the non-druids, and they have one city civilization not in ruin. Just one. and it's grand and beautiful - but because it is, they feel it can't or shouldn't be night elf. Never mind the night theme, the lore telling you, the night elf looking model - showing you it's just a variation of night elf, not the exact same, but a variation. Never mind the animation and skeleton, the panthers, the assets. Oh they are new assets - so they can't be night elf! Ofc they are new assets they are showing you an anceint night elf city not in ruins, it's going to look new but still quite night elfy - or did the night moon and stars theme not give it away?

But no, it's nice so it must be blood elf or shared with blood elf. Like Demon Hunter sharing aren't enough, like all of TBC, victorious blood elves, badass blood elves, winning big and having stunning day/sun themed based art and assets is not enough, this must also be blood elf - they feel. Never mind that in the story in-game blood elves are been shown to outclass night elves seriously and badly, one blood elf effectively shuts down an entire night elf campaign in Azshara, and he's just a typical BElf - same with orcs in Ashenvale. So night elves much weaker after saving the world's arses in WC3, and further badly weakened after the cataclysm incursions, shouldn't get strengthened by the arcane bolstering of the nightborne after the lore has shown they're opened up to it fully again, welcoming their highborne side back, they shouldn't get something good afterall their losses since the sundering and especially in WoW. No , they should reject the nightborne because night elves hate the arcane, and blood elves who clearly need them (/sarcasm) should get them because despite all the evidence and lore that is telling you otherwise, they are somehow more blood elf.

We already have High Elves, they are now called Blood Elves.

So, the question is then do I want Nightborne? Nope, because they are just Highborne with a different model.

exactly, why would a blood elf want nightborne. What do they have that we don't already have? Not to mention they are night elves in an area full of night elves.

They don't add anything to us, it's not like we're chronically deficient on the arcane side, or very hungry to re-connect with our legacy we never disconnected from. If anything the nightborne would need us, being an isolated city n all, suddenly now back in the open world after a long period of isolation. Sounds like a certain group you know just a decade and a half go? Not to mention we left night/moon and star stuff behind, why go back to that when day and the sun are working quite well for us. We recently got our city back, and when our repairs are complete, their's is going to look nearly average. We also just got our sunwell back, why would we want a nightwell and sacrifice anything to fix it??

Sounds like they'll be much more appreciated and needed by their own kind.
