"I can confirm: They have NOT LOST THE SOURCE CODE. But the technical issues are more complicated than that." - Mark Kern.
Something new that came out from the meeting atleast, the anti-legacy people can stop saying that the source is gone and will never come back.
Haha Yes was just about to post
I can confirm: They have NOT LOST THE SOURCE CODE. But the technical issues are more complicated than that.!!!
Usually with companies like this, an NDA is standard - like if they showed him Legion stuff that isn't released yet. I visited Apple for a day, to work with an engineer in the Apple Labs on ram issues with our Mac (long story, but was cool as fuck) back in the day, and we had to sign one, because we saw stuff that wasn't released yet.
But I bet this is the new conspiracy theory for this thread. Just watch.

That whole thing has had a lot of urban myth attached to it. What I remember them saying is they didn't have ALL of it - and most of it was hopelessly out of date, not that they don't have any.
Kern: "Mike and I talked about the technical challenges and I agree that for Blizzard, the challenge is greater than just throwing up a server. Mike and WoW are committed to a very high level of qualty and polish. That makes everything more complicated when considering legacy."
And that can bury some other arguments about just firing up some emulator and letting Nost handle it. If Legacy was to ever happen it would be up to the standards of Blizz today which would mean Bnet integration and so on.
Well this Kern meeting did at least shine a light on a couple things.
* Blizz has the source code
* If Blizz was to do Legacy realms it would have a high level of quality and polish.
This will bury the arguments about source code and it ALSO should bury arguments about it being really simple for Blizz to flip a switch or just have Nost use their code to do it.
