The only times I have quit mid match has been due to direct horrible latency. Example
-Charge as Reinhardt
-Charge is stuck in charge start animation
-7 seconds pass
-Dead
Whole fight. Latency for days. No point.

Not all leavers are rage quitters. Some have to leave because RL and others leave because a friend invited them to a group, which pops up a message asking you to leave current game and doesn't give leaver penalty. This is important because otherwise you have to catch them between games when there is 3 seconds before their next game loads.
And who cares if there is only 3 seconds at the end? You wait 15 seconds and the next game starts. You are not losing anything.
Someone who "ragequits" and leaves will actually be a benefit to you, not a detriment. Clearly they weren't any good for the team.
And also, are you seriously, with a straight face, going to claim that it's better for your team for someone who's really bad at the game to stay until the end, instead of leaving and giving the spot up for someone better? That makes no sense in any universe. Ever.
There should be no leaving penalties. This isn't a game where it matters, when you get a replacement instantly.
FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..
...Why leave? If I notice I end up in a group that keeps feeding itself down main street to the other team, I tend to just switch to a hero I want to practice in a live enviroment and then do that. I get experience with the hero and without my healing or tanking or whatever I was doing, we just lose a bit quicker and I still get full XP. Then I simply leave after the scores.
Really? That's something new for me.
OT: i really enjoy the fact that TF2 has an achievement for Pyro that involves domination over a player and him quitting the game without getting a revenge. Wish in OV there was some sort of counter, how many people ragequit during your games

But no XP then. Oh well.
If you leave said games it's harder for game to calculate your matchmaking score, if you keep playing, next game (if you really that good) will be recalibrated to give you more balanced match.
Yesterday when i was playing solo and got 4 golds on Zenyatta (yes, one of these was for damage dealt), game booted me off this team and spent like 3 minutes to find me a new "more balanced" match

This quick-play mode is shit, and this will always happen since it's a quick go in, play a few mins, go out... even if it's not ragequitting people will just leave for various reasons.
Game is literally designed for those quick fixes.
A lot of people usually leave every match as soon as the Victory/Defeat screen pops up, just because the end game waiting screens are so insanely long. It's quicker to just leave and find another match. Shouldn't really reward people for consecutive matches until they fix that.
Russian name on my team - this is going to be great or terrible. Plays torbjorn, turret in the middle of the road, gets annihilated by tracer, instantly leaves. Lose objective, lose 90% of escort route before we find a 6th. Game ruined by a single person.
Thankfully it doesn't happen that often, because it completely ruins games the couple of times I've seen it happen.
That doesn't help. It has nothing to do with my MMR, and everything to do with how bad my team is vs the enemy team. If I'm at the level of the enemy team, and the 5 others on my team are not, then my MMR won't do shit in that case.
Like right now, another defense game. I get gold objective kills, gold damage, gold eliminations, on Tor, and most of them are on my handgun because my turrets don't even live two seconds when my entire team is dead constantly. Enemy pushes payload to the end without stops. So amazing.
Also, I think this was the sixth XP penalty now. A bit overkill if you ask me.

I couldn't really be arsed to go into detail but my suggestion on the beta forums was to vastly increase the XP reward when you get put into a game that's midway through, so people don't auto-leave when they realise they got put into a game thats half done (especially when the team they are put into is losing badly). This would stimmy the effect somewhat.
No, just no.
I don't know which game you played but "get a replacement instantly" is just wrong. Yesterday i did like 20 games and my GF had some overwatch random crash error bullshit and was obviously kicked out of the game cause inactivity. This happened like 4 times over the matches, the replacement took almost always 1-2 min which made us loose obviously even if we dominated before, the loss of one person is terribly noteable (at least in this game).
On the other hand, i have seen 2 "quits" this day on the enemy team, it took about 5 seconds for a replacement to arrive for them. So i guess it's just again the completely shitty system/algor. by blizz like in all of their games (e.G. WoW dungeon queue waiting 30 min as dps, get invite, one dps declines, you wait another 10 min cause tank is magically gone).
We had a disconnect in our party, and the spot was never filled. After getting stomped at spawn for 3 minutes the rest of the team left, and the game ended due to too few players.
Kinda dumb.
I just guess i would be really glad about an amazing option that i missed in HotS as well - the surrender button.
A kind of vote system that can be initiated by one person "Do we want to give up yes/no" and if 4+ ppl say yes you give up and can (maybe) play a better game. I never left at all, but it really enrages me to play with at least 3 retards on my team (if you do not queue in a full 6 man premade) and just constantly get stomped. I mean i had Torbs that didn't use their turrets once, Reinhardts with no shield and such things this is something i see as a serious problem for me since it's not my own fault that we loose. Hell i even think i'm pretty bad at shooters but even i almost always get 2-3 gold medals if i queue alone or with 2 (no matter what champ i take).
Guess this would be a decent solution.
