That Samsung one has an average DeltaE of 2.5, white balance at 6700K which is bluish but close to 6500K and a contrast ratio of 2.5~3K which is better than IPS or TN. No doubt the screen will look way better.

But it comes with higher response times and if you're super competitive it might be noticeable.

Plasma is pretty much dead. The next thing will be low-persistence OLED which is basically the same as Plasma conceptually. Even the problems are exactly the same!

I am too, and I obviously am not as knowledgable on the subject.

I'm not exactly the best person ever to recommend monitor models, you'd need to ask Remilia-senpai for that.

I recently purchased this. It will arrive to me on Friday so I can't say how good it is yet, but the reviews like it.

Never trust customer reviews, especially for monitors. Trust reviews done by the likes of tftcentral.co.uk

Customers will often times get something new and tout it as the greatest thing since sliced bread, simply because they have nothing better to compare it to. They may also do this because they couldn't afford something nicer, so it's a form of cognitive bias by reviewing it to make it sound better and make themselves feel better with the purchase.

This is why I only read reviews done by essentially "professional" reviewers and, let's say for my photography equipment? Reviews by people who share pictures and by, again, the professional reviewers.

Years back, I would have told you how wonderful the Acer S211HL was, "for only $115 and the fact it's full 1080p, and a great pixel density from being a 21" monitor, IT'S A STEAL AND SO GUD!"

No, it's not even close to good.

I dare @Artorius to get the review for this one, if they even DID review it. x_x

    -.-

Honestly does it have to be 27"@144Hz? for the $300-500 range?

It's okay. On top of the burn-in and flickering problems, with OLED we get color degradation over time, color shifting at weird viewing angles and the thing isn't as bright as LCD either.

Now if we go sample-and-hold OLED we have the same motion problems as LCD.

    Life is good.
    CLED meme pls

You know at some point I'll just have this button that says, Sony CLED please, and pushing it just spams someone at Sony to do it.

The good thing is I have a local microcenter I'll buy it from, so if I get one with particularly bad backlight bleed, I'll just return it. They've always been really good with returns.

    DUDE.

I LOVE Micro Center, especially for this bit! It's like you have a 30 day or whatever testing period.

Hell, I returned a bloody motherboard to them. I returned an SSD to them. I returned an ASUS ROG Swift (TN version) to them!

Each time, minor questions, no big deal though!

Good luck sir, let us know how it goes and show it off in the sadly, quiet, Post Your Gaming Setup megathread!

Thing has the lowest deviance for color reproduction, close to 6500K white point and all the gimmicky things to decrease motion blur at LCD (read as backlight strobing to "reset" your eyes eye-tracking and make them follow the object properly). Great response times and great input lag.

The only problems are the problems that you can't avoid with IPS or IPS clones (PLS and AHVA), bad blacks and therefore bad contrast ratio. It should be a solid purchase, just make sure to use it with lights on preferably =)

If you at all like color uniformity, don't even consider this. I returned it especially because the viewing angles at the edges/points was just horrid. The color shifting was just grossly painful after having an IPS display.
