Olympics Soon. Spirit of Competition Again??

I always kick myself for not getting this pet when I had the chance. I just didn't care about pets back then, but now I'm a huge collector! Any chance they might make this pet available again every 4 years during the Summer Olympics? It would still keep its availability rare. What do you guys think?

    edit for wowwiki info-

Apparently the way this event / pet / tabard were talked about in the beginning was:
    From
    Wowwiki- http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Spirit_of_Competition

"Every two years, the Spirits of Competition grow especially fervent, and draw close to the mortal realm. During such times, members of both the Alliance and Horde can honor the spirits and earn Competitor's Tabards by seeking to defeat one another in the battlegrounds. For victory in competition, they can also earn the spirits' favor in the form of a prized gold medal - and the special pet it summons."

Then after the 2010 Winter Olympics, this was posted:

The fact that this event will happen every two years suggests that it will occur during the years of both the Summer and Winter Olympics. The 2010 Winter Olympics began February 12, 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, lasting until February 28, 2010; however, no corresponding Spirit of Competition event appeared in-game. Upon questioning, Blizzard employee Malkorix revealed that it will only happen in the summer, regardless of when the Olympics occurs. Despite the original statement, the event has yet to recur.

Finally, the tweet about 2016 Summer Olympics:

    Blizzard Tweet:
Zarhym(26 Jul 2012): "There's no Spirit of Competition reward this year. The expansion's kept us busy and contains MANY pets (handle them). RE"

It was a Chinese dragon specific for the Beijing games. While I'm not a big fan of the whole limited time reward thing, it wouldn't really make sense to bring back that particular pet for the Rio games.

There was no "spirit of competition" for London 2012... and btw a dragon pet made for Beijin it is not very representative of Rio.
Argus in 2018 My prediction failed in part... But I'm still a Spacegoat

Spirit pet was from 2008.. We've since had Olympics in 2010 (W), 2012 (S) and 2014 (W) without any pet..

Chances are 2016 will give one, is virtually nil..

    Fact (because I say so): TBC > Cata > Legion > ShaLa > MoP > DF > BfA > WoD = WotLK

It wasn't brought back for the 2012 one so I don't see why they would do it now.

Didn't pet battles and the pet collection craze kind of begin after the 2012 Olympics were over though? It's kinda like how I never bought those Kor'kron toys b/c I didn't want to waste a bag space but then they became toys in a tab!

I like my Spirit of Competition.

    He's called Mo.

But I can't see it happening, I mean its more likely to be a fresh pet if it is going to be something, but I honestly can't see them doing it.

I'm almost sure Blizzard said that they made the pet to raise subs in China.

The dragon wouldn't make sense but they should bring back the Olympic tabard IMO. I use it with many transmogs, it goes quite well with stuff.

They should have a parakeet, different coloured parrot, or my favourite-a poison dart frog!
Isn't it ironic how education is important, yet people forget all about it when they visit the internet?

I have several Spirit of Competition pets, got one on each of my toons back in 2008 and they sat in my banks until pet battles became a thing. I've often wished they were cageable. They are so rare I'm sure they'd go for hundreds of thousands.

To give you an idea, the population that's joined Warcraft Pets and imported their pet collections is a pretty good representation of the pet collecting population, and only 30% of them have a SoC. I'm sure many of the rest would pay a small fortune for one.

Many people ask for a different themed pet but it was supposed to be the Spirit of Competition pet every 2 years. I added this info in the OP too but here you go!

It would be nice if stuff like that would be made available again somehow. Bag space had been an issue for me since Cataclysm introduced transmog. I just couldn't justify having a handful of items cluttering up my bags and bank even further. If there was even a hint of a toy box at the time, I definitely would have gotten those items, despite the Barrens being such miserable content. I even would have grinded for them on shitty geared alts if necessary.

Uhh...I'm no Rocket Surgeon...but if I was involved in the decision making process in this, my suggestion would be..."Why not simply release the previous Spirit of Competition pet?"

It's nothing to do with being lazy. Some rewards are meant to be available for a limited time, these are basically WoW's version of veteran rewards.

Well, since it's in Brazil.... why not hand out string bikini transmogs for female characters?
