ISIS kills dozens of its own in hunt for spies

    http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/06...l?intcmp=hpbt1

BAGHDAD – In March, a senior commander with the Islamic State group was driving through northern Syria on orders to lead militants in the fighting there when a drone blasted his vehicle to oblivion.

The killing of Abu Hayjaa al-Tunsi, a Tunisian jihadi, sparked a panicked hunt within the group's ranks for spies who could have tipped off the U.S-led coalition about his closely guarded movements. By the time it was over, the group would kill 38 of its own members on suspicion of acting as informants.

They were among dozens of ISIS members killed by their own leadership in recent months in a vicious purge after a string of airstrikes killed prominent figures. Others have disappeared into prisons and still more have fled, fearing they could be next as the jihadi group turns on itself in the hunt for moles, according to Syrian opposition activists, Kurdish militia commanders, several Iraqi intelligence officials and an informant for the Iraqi government who worked within ISIS' ranks....

The fear of informants has fueled paranoia among the militants' ranks. A mobile phone or internet connection can raise suspicions. As a warning to others, ISIS has displayed the bodies of some suspected spies in public — or used particularly gruesome methods, including reportedly dropping some into a vat of acid.

ISIS "commanders don't dare come from Iraq to Syria because they are being liquidated" by airstrikes, said Bebars al-Talawy, an opposition activist in Syria who monitors the jihadi group.

So all we need to do is to continue making them paranoid so they kill one another on grounds of possible espionage?

While probably unrealistic I like that idea more than the all too often "nuke every living being in the middle east " comments that are being thrown around.

They will eventually splinter off into ever more radical extremist groups. As they encounter loses , the more fanatical members will feel that they deserved it because Allah was not happy. Once these groups reach a certain size and leaders gain power, they realize that they enjoy the power and the prestige and begin to do what is necessary for them to maintain that. The rank and file get disgruntled and splinter off, and the cycle begins anew.

That's very true. The question then becomes will they have the funding necessary to pull off big attacks once they are splintered into those smaller groups.

Terrorizing the terrorists. Fight fire with fire! Let's just hope they break before governments make too many anti-terror laws that end up with completely different results compared to what they were intended to do.

That is just excellent news. Hopefully any true informant was left unharmed.

It's awesome that those sheep are being betrayed by their own in the same gruesome fashion; hopefully deterring new recruits. Terrorists terrorizing themselves.

Every time there is a strike against them, now media should start saying it was all thanks to an informant inside ISIS. Haha

That's a sound strategy, keep dropping hints theirs spies among them and let nature sort itself out

I wish the article ended with, "...and they didn't get our guys." Just to keep the paranoia on tilt in case anyone reads it.

I feel like the fact that we know they're doing this speaks to some degree that there must be spies still.

Although there's some irony in an organization that was using the fear of possibly hiding among refugees now being afraid of having the same happen to them basically.

The obvious solution then is to give them all free internet and watch their paranoia tear themselves apart...or they all just give up on being monsters and watch cat videos all day. There's really no losing option here.
