Although, sqidgerdig (nfi how to spell that) does sound similar to squizz - at least to me - which means "to look".
    Exactly!

I love how every Australian makes that connection when I'm pretty sure "squizz" is just another made-up Australian word. Though if anyone not from Australia can confirm that word is used elsewhere I'm interested in hearing it.

Its fun convincing tourists about drop bears. But the joke is actually on us Aussies. During the Megafauna there was a carnivore that could climb trees.

"It may have been an ambush predator or scavenger, and had enormous slicing cheek teeth, large stabbing incisor teeth (replacements for the canine teeth of other carnivorous mammals) and a huge thumb claw that may have been used to disembowel its prey".

"Opposable first toes would have provided grip and balance for climbing trees..."

One of the few jokes I found funny way back on Rove Live was when he was giving some actress Vegemite for the first time and she goes "oh, it's like chocolate!" and he goes "NO IT IS NOT LIKE CHOCOLATE".

So many Americans think it's chocolate just because it's brown, rather than pure yeasty salty goodness that I literally have every day because damn I love it especially with slices of cheese, mmm.

I wouldn't say "the joke is on us". Obviously the continent itself is subconsciously warning Australians that dropbears existed in the past, like some kind of phantom memory imprinted on the very essence of the land.

One thing I like to point out to foreigners is that in another 50 million years or so, the continents will probably reconnect into another supercontinent, meaning the Australian animals we've had evolving in isolation here will be free to roam the rest of the world once more.

Yeah but in the modern day they only way a "bear" will ambush you is if a Koala literally falls out of a tree and lands on you.

Which does happen from time to time. :P

Sometimes he sounded like he was saying something that he hasn't used before in his life. I think it was his accent.

Tony was good for some laughs with his random stupidity too.

Yeah, I am pretty sure we made it up at some point. Curious to know if it exists in any other language.

Oh for sure. I think most of us Aussies feel that they are really out of touch with the real world. And their antics is more humorous than serious, even when they try to be.

Hanging bags of onions outside our doors when Tony got kicked out of office was the best thing.

Urgh, Bishop. What did her bias ratio wind up being again? Last I heard it was something like 4 Liberal ejections and almost 400 Labor ejections. Not that she's biased. Also, Pyne is the Liberal member in my electorate, I have to put up with his smarmy face on every damn telephone pole for the next month. Uuuuuuugh.

Oh I can't hack snivly personally. But I always found him calling someone a cunt hilarious. Would hate to live in his seat.

Bishop achieved a rate of 95.5% against the ALP. Literally the most biased speaker we have ever had in history. But she's a friggin dickhead to begin with, why the made her speaker beats the hell out of me.

Side note I noticed a lot of our pollies our from the UK. STOP SENDING THEM OUR WAY D:

I've got good old Shayne Neumann out where I live. He's an alright guy, I get along pretty well with him. He's been in where I work quite often and always has a chat with me.
