“The evidence suggests that the [Affordable Care Act] has at least modestly elevated involuntary part-time employment,” Goldman Sachs economist Alec Philips wrote in a research note published on Wednesday. Obamacare had the greatest impact on industries that traditionally do not offer strong health insurance coverage, such as retail stores and the hospitality industry. Phillips noted that these have the highest levels of involuntary part-time workers, and believes that the ACA has forced “a few hundred thousand” to take cuts in hours or accept part-time work as a result."

    -the article in the OP

So we lost jobs (according to a Goldman peon) because shitty employers couldn't meet the demands of ACA and give their employees health insurance to compensate for not giving them a living wage? What a terrible thing for the Left to admit!

Nothing galls me more than richer than god fucks lamenting that they had to treat their low level employees like shit because of Obama. While they take home millions and millions of dollars and their companies profits are higher than ever. Cry me a fucking river. The price of doing business in the civilized world is making sure your workers can live a decent life.

The ACA is rather weak tbh, but I don't blame the bill so much. No medical plan will succeed with the unrestricted costs of medical care and prescription drugs that seems to be a unique trait for us. Why is medical care even a privatized industry? Who's idea was it to allow accidents and illnesses to result in one side profiting and the patients going bankrupt?

Out of the entire ACA, this is the only good part of it. It could have also been passed as a simple law.

Trump wants to cut the corporate tax rate to 15%, not increase it. That's cutting the top rate in half. I'm not sure where you're getting "tax the corporations," since he's advocating giving corporations a massive birthday present. Fancy that, from a guy who owns several corporations.
Yet trump also wants a progressive income tax of 0-25% where anyone under 30k pays 0 and only after that do you start getting hit with 5% and so on and on up to 25%

Thats not how insurance works though, just passing pre existing conditions and then have everything fixed.

What about the crappy insurance policies companies were selling and promoting? Great you have pre existing conditions covered but now you have reached the life time limit.

Oh now you have so many sick people but the number of healthy people on the insurance is the same, result increase in prices.

And few more steps and you would end up with the ACA.

    ----------

Also what do you mean ''lets finally admit that Obamacare is costing jobs'', people like the OP have been complaining about ACA since 2008 before it was passed.

The economic bust around 9/11 was the IT bust. It wasn't due to hippies, but due to hubris of landing money to start ups that had no revenue plan. People were investing in IT companies, thinking every IT company was destined for fortunes. They gave away shares like it was toilet paper.

Pretty certain the OP article is an opinion piece. Maybe because the title of the article says, Opinion, as the very first word. Admittedly, it's a little vague.

Also fairly certain an opinion piece doesn't constitute the "left" admitting to anything. Regardless of the website which runs any such opinion piece- which is largely speculative too.

This is really poor message boarding.

The whole west is failing, just you see. We need to support each other a lot more, stop inviting too many strange cultures into our society or atleast in a slower rate. We can hardly take care of our own because:

    1. Either we do not give a shit about each other
    or
    2. We do not have the energy to take care of each other because we have to please a kapitalistic system that wants us all to work 24/7/365.

we need to be real and take care of those closest to us. It is insanely dificult to have so much work and having to accept muslim customs because they are so far away from western.
Don't fucking lock down your daughters, let us date them. Dont do everything in allahs name, do it for other living beings well-being and yourself.

"Yeah i just graduated kindergarten and i want to be an astronaut so i will skip all the way to university and fullfill my dream". It is not freaking possible! Small steps.

We can still do something about it though, if we lift our head from our cell-phone and PC and look each other in the eyes and fight side by side for a better life to live here on planet earth.

And how exactly is he going to pay for this absolutely massive tax cut? What is he going to spend less on? If those tax cuts go through the only way he could get the books to balance is either by a) eviscerating military spending which isn't going to happen under a republican dominated congress, or by b) gutting spending on redistributive type programs, so gutting medicaid, SNAP, medicare, etc, which basically means these tax cuts are a massive re-redistribution from the bottom 90% to the top 1%.

So pray tell, in what way shape or form is this something to crow about?

Yeah, he wants to reduce taxes on everyone to such a degree that he'll increase the national debt $10 trillion over his term. Trump is as much about giving away free money as Bernie Sanders is, only he's benefiting the wealthy, while Sanders is benefiting the poor..

Now look at his healthcare plan. What does 'tax deductible' mean to those who do not pay any taxes? His tax plan, coupled with his healthcare plan, has a cost cutting measure that escalates based on your taxes. Meaning, the poor or the lower middle class, will see 0 cost cutting measures. While the higher your earnings go, the greater the available deduction goes. It's encouraging plans with extremely low payments, but extreme deductibles. Causing the tax payer to cover the cost of deductibles, but only for those who are wealthy enouph to have taxable income to justify it. So, while you applaud your tax bracket, you are also signing up to pay healthcare bills, that escape up words on wealth. Meaning, those paying 0 income taxes because they earn so little, will be paying for healthcare of those who are wealthier than them. His tax plan, coupled with his healthcare plan, creates welfare for the wealthy.

Now you may ask, but how will those paying 0 taxes be paying for the wealthy healthcare. Well, that brings us to the actual bracket on his site. As you look at his sites plan, notice the two brackets. One for income tax, the other for capital gains and dividends. Notice something missing? Payroll taxes are unaffected. Meaning that your pay will still be taxed. In fact, payroll taxes is how the pay if the working class is paid. Capital gains is pretty much payroll taxes for the wealthy. Trump is slashing those, but doesn't even include your payroll taxes in his tax table.

So yes, a Trump's tax plan would have a huge impact on corporations and the wealthy, while having a nominal impact on everyone else. His 0 bracket already includes a majority that do not pay taxes. This is trickle down economics. This will lead to losing programs that currently assist his 0% bracket. Because it's a huge tax revenue hit, not due to changes on the bottom, but his tax plan for the top. The deficit will sky rocket and those paying 0% income tax, will be the ones largest hit.

It's trickle down economics. As I like to call it, Blanche DuBois economics... 'I've always depended on the kindness of strangers'...

No, seriously. Show me an example in recent history where an economic collapse was caused by "hippie arguments".
Housing crash caused by sub-prime lending pushed out by the Clinton Administration. They essentially forced lenders to lower standards to allow more minorities to purchase homes which led to people borrowing money that they were unable to repay.

Banks weren't "forced to lower standards." Certainly not to the levels of idiocy they reached. They lowere the standard to eventually reach the dreaded NINJA loans because their competitors were doing it and making a shit ton of money. Because the appetite for CDOs was so high in a world where too much capital exists and not enough places to invest it.

The Sub-Prime Mortgage crisis happened because of reasons opposite to "hippie arguments," not because of hippie arguments.

If all your competitors are loaning out money at 4% and you say, "That's crazy, it's way too risky, I'll only lend for 5%", guess what? You're out of business. So everyone chases each other to the bottom. The good banks stay a bit more conservative so they aren't the first to collapse, and are well positioned to receive bailout money when it's needed after the aggressive dumb banks (Bear Stearns, Lehman, etc.) go bankrupt.
I agree with that. It's basically what I was saying. But it wasn't "hippie arguments" that created that situation. It was the power of the free market.

The report card mentions 26 weeks for Orthopedic joint replacement surgery. Here in the US, my mother had to wait 6 years.
