However, when people talk about Senate terms - especially in regards to someone who held a US Senate seat - they generally don't add in years spent at the state level. He was a one term Senator. He also served in his state Senate. I think saying he served two terms in the Senate is misleading. He had plenty of qualifications, no need to cloud the issue.
