the obvious answer is "it's on sale", there is 150$ of the regular price, so it's not that the regular price is cheap it's just something they want to get rid of b4 noone wants it anymore, why is anything on sale?

at 519 bucks, I don't understand why this 980ti is so cheap? is it just because it's a weird color (MSI is usually red/black, this being orange)? My friend says the color isn't desired so that's why it's cheap, but is this a good GPU?

Worse cooler, worse binned GPU, lower longevity components. Those are the things that make a product cheaper.

The GPU is the same cut-down GM200 as you have at any other 980Ti, just lower binned which means that it won't OC as far.
