Status in battle seems to actually update when your pokemon are affected by stat increases/decreases.

You can see the move details in battle
You can see stat changes in battle
you can see if a move is super effective/resisted in battle
Battle Royale is FFA but worse

Also, trainer doesn't run up to you, instead just declares a battle. They also move during battle giving commands. I like all this stuff.
