Blizzard isnt going to lose out on actual $$ just to lower the total gold ingame.

Now I'm not saying Blizzard didn't tweak the price calculations since release (we can infact see the different when you compare US and EU launch) but to think they are making tokens to prevent sub losses. Hell no
    This guys understands it.

You have it backwards - if less people are buying it for gold, the price drops. Unless it is offset by even less people selling it, which IMO is true, since there is literally close to nothing to spend gold on the moment. This will change drastically at legion launch.

You are looking that the wrong way again. Let's look at it like this. I would NEVER but store mounts for cash, really never but I would gladly give gold for them and I would be willing to spend a million to get all ( perhaps even more ). There are people who are not willing to pay real cash for game subscription when there is another option - to buy token for gold. I would now never pay for game time with realm cash, if there isn't any available I would wait for them to appear. If there isn't any for days I would probably even call it a quit till Legion. Yes i am basing that on what would i do but I am sure i am not the only one.

Not really, if 2million ( for the sake of argument ) stopped playing since the token was <20k the percentage is probably the same out of those left. Considering the price is 500-600% higher now then it was at the start you need to ask yourself why not more people are selling it for gold when they can get more gold for their investment.

    Cool.
There are a lot of people who dont give a shit about 15 EUR and sell tokens every day, hence why they are available.
    Your point...?

    Anything can happen I suppose.
This poll is 1 year old. Go ahead and multiply the gold by 300% if you wish. 50% of the people polled have less than 300k after the multiplication. And that is a poll of the more involved community, frequenting wow reddit.

In reality, many of them stopped playing during that year that passed. I wouldn't be surprised if it was closer to 70-80% of the population that will be subbed on legion launch that is sitting on 300k. THey are not going to be buying 100k tokens.

Exactly, and if less people are playing the game how can the price go up by 600% or more, how can a token that was 15k 6+ months ago be 90k now?

Make a topic about dupes and we can discuss it.
This topic is about token prices, and the only thing you managed to produce is "blizzard lies cause I say so". You are very convincing mr random nameless mmochampion poster.

A few years ago there was a rumor of duped TCG mounts around the pre-patch of MoP. I believe that was probably erroneous. I suspect people were buying TCG games (physically) in order to get gold in-game to support their high end raiding scheme. Similarly, I believe that this time around people might be trying to amass some gold hence the prices of tokens won't be affected much. They might drop (in gold). That being said, I also don't know if Blizzard rigs the prices or not because while they have said they are based on supply and demand they reserve the right to base it "partly" on it because this is not a real market regulated normally.

Because most of them (casuals selling tokens) quit the over the last year and are waiting to come back in legion.
What makes it so hard for you to understand this.

Because the people playing right now don't need gold. They have their garrisons running efficiently bringing in gold. So no one is buying a token and reselling it for gold. So the shortage of tokens on the market makes the price go up. You may even be able to buy gold illegally for cheaper still so there's that as well.

Mixed up my words. I meant to say there's less people buying tokens to sell for gold.

It will most likely be fluctuating, going up and down. As you said ppl will buy more from blizz, so prize will drop and when it does, ppl will buy tons of tokens because its "cheap" and the prize will rocket up.

As for the average prize, hard to say. my guess is it will decrease slightly.

Where have you seen the shortage of tokens?!? Really have you EVER seen " No tokens available to purchase " or something similar when you scan the AH? I have yet to see that. There is no shortage of tokens, especially now when you can get 6x the original amount of gold for 1 token.

And people who are buying tokens for gold haven't quit the game only those who are buying for real cash? Do you have a problem to understand that? Percentage wise the numbers are probably the same....

More casuals who sell tokens quit than hardcores who farm gold to buy tokens with, hence the 600% price increase.
How is this a mystery to you is baffling.

I really hope the prices will drop with Legion launch. I agree with the one who said the prices will probably spike with the prepatch and legion release but I'm rather sure that most of the ppl who quit the game in the last year or so don't have enough money to pay for their sub longer than 1-2 months (provided that in legion you will not earn a shitload of money without doing much). I'm confident that prices will drop a while after Legion release, and this time I'll not be fooled again and I'll buy 10+ tokens when the price is lower. I still regret not buying 10 tokens when they were around 30k on EU realms, and I'm now paying them roughly 90k. It's not a problem as long as I have 6 garrisons going generating more than 200k x month, but if in Legion the prices will remain around 80k-100k I'll probably start paying my sub in € again.

This. Blizzard doesn't care one iota about people buying tokens with gold... it's a self sustaining thing.

Their focus is getting people to buy tokens with money... If there are 1000 tokens and 1100 buyers, the cost in gold goes up... enticing more people to buy tokens with money.

Recently, I have bought my tokens from the AH and they appear in my mail almost immediately. When they were cheaper, they sometimes took an hour or more to "show up".

My Tokens tend to sell almost instantly.

My only complaint about tokens is that i cant access the wow shop and sell them on the mobile app.

How there can be 1100 buyers for 1000 AH items?

I dont understand how blizzard calculates the gold price for tokens.

There will be a few opportunities to buy at decently lower than current prices, but don't expect prices to go down and stay down. You have to be paying attention to token prices during a few "events" - namely pre-patch release (the end of garrison gold,) DH release, and the week leading up to and following Legion launch. If you have no tokens or sub time at the moment, you could always consider buying one or two when you can (at the daily low of course) and then wait for those price drop opportunities to buy more...I always gold cost average my token purchases unless anomalies occur like last December in NA then I buy a bunch at once - it can be less painful in a situation of uncertainty like this to buy semi-regularly rather than buying at the wrong time. Who knows, we very well could be in a price "bubble" type situation at the moment and a crash might occur (doubtful, but you never know.)

I dont understand how blizzard calculates the gold price for tokens.
Meaning 100 buyers do not have tokens to buy. The speed at which tokens sell determines price. The longer they sit, the price gets adjusted down. If more people are buying than selling, they do not sit on the AH long and the price is adjusted up.

Check the price at wee hours of the morning.. like 5am... and compare to late afternoon. Early morning the price is lower because the tokens are sitting longer in the AH and the price is adjusted down... as more people log in they start selling faster and the price is adjusted up.
