Deactivated Pre-WoD Tier Sets Bonus...Timewalking screwed?

I don't think this will apply to time walking dungeons, though if it does it will free up a lot more space in my bank lol. Plus only legendaries really do anything in time walking.

I know exactly what min/maxing means. But that is not what you wrote. You said that anyone who didn't min/max was "dumb as fuck" and that you were somehow special because you min/max gear on easy content.

Then you've to learn to read. I said that the majority of the player base is dumb as fuck, because they dont want to play their classes properly.

Ah, but see, here is the meat of my gripe.

Yes I enjoy being a god in TW. Its fun. It does not hurt one single person. I like playing with all my old tiers and trying out different things to see if i can stack 4+ bonus procs or something.

But, I am more aggrieved by what is becoming Blizzs go to response. KILL IT. KILL IT WITH FIRE AND ACID. AND BURN ALL THE COUNTRYSIDE JUST TO BE SURE.

REGARDLESS of the "side effects". They just don't even care anymore.

And players in favour of broken set bonuses have defended them with the same argument, "stop ruining our fun, and to hell with with the consequences".
Not helped by the rather exaggerated claim that it has "screwed" timewalking, given how it is unlikely that any significant number will bother collecting any sort of set specifically beyond the legendary if they even bother seeking that out purely for timewalking use.

I know there were a lot of timewalking exploits that were becoming more and more popular. I think the developers are trying to avoid that.

Using old set bonuses in TW was fun, it's a shame that it'll be removed but not a huge deal really.

Also, I don't think anyone's claiming TW will be hard (or ever was hard) without them, it was just a fun little side project to get absurdly min-maxed for them.

The only person punishing you is yourself, really. If the average random player is so painful to play with, don't play with them. You are free to queue up with your own group and steamroll down those dungeons, quick and easy.

So they hit these because people were abusing them in current content yet most of the people who will actually be affected are those who farmed this gear for Timewalking. Makes total sense Blizzard, next stop they'll remove all gem slots from older gear because now it turns into a min/max of gem slots to actually make gear valid for TW. To me it was just fun. To some classes, depending on the sets you got, it could completely change the way they played by buffing different skills than are normally used. As for tier sets buffing abilities that class no longer has any more, then the class simply wouldn't use them, period. Solves that problem.

Finally, when you are farming for the Mount with all of your "BIS geared but hated by the RNG God" friends, it helps you spam them substantially faster. It just boils down to how sick I am of Blizz taking the "Burn the house down to kill a spider" approach vs coming up with a workable plan that achieves their goals of current content cheating and doesn't remove even more fun from the game.

why should they spend god knows how long reworking old tier sets to make them work in timewalking. a lot of the classes are being changed and the those old sets probably either wouldn't work or be completely broken anyway

It's 2 things, neither of which is timewalking, it effecting timewalking is just a by-product, the first is that A LOT of these set bonuses will be broken with the class changes in legion, it's stupid for blizzard to change some vanilla/tbc set bonus to work with the new changes to classes.The second is that people are heavily abusing them in current content, like the arcane mage bonus and i believe some people are using some old bonus on rogues? can't remember exactly which one though

Perhaps you aren't as hard core as you think? Perhaps developers realize they can't balance old tier bonuses easily with Legion specs/talents and that people like you find "optimal" tier bonuses that help you trivialize the content.

In other words, perhaps you aren't good enough to do Timewalking dungeons in regular gear and need the boosted stats from some broken/exploitative tier set just to get the job done?

I was using my final tier Cata 2 set on my Frost DK that I have to get 2 charges of Rime instead of 1, it was pretty fun to mix and match some of the other 2 set bonuses too.

You do understand that the old set bonuses were only deactivated because of the abuse in Raids? Most recent example is mage T8.

Old set bonus in TW arent broken nor an exploit. It is used to maximise DPS (a foreign word combination for you, obviously) to safe time if you chain run them for the mount or the currency.

By cheesing what? I used the set with the best effects suited for fast TW runs. Do you know what cheesing means? The system itself is scaling all items, which is intended design.

And if you cant read, set bonuses were deactivated due to abuse inside raids and not because people were wearing them in TW.

The reason why they had to do this is alot of specs are having their base spells reset and changed, so one of the issues with this is that some (if not most) of old sets become usless/buggy or super OP and them having to balance 18 sets (per class, per spec) for old content... yeah not quite worth the time...

for example some old sets allready dont work, some old hunter sets and lock sets worked with "pet" but well MM and affliction/destro dident really use them, so these sets would sometimes bug out and do nothing


so its simple, they dont want to have to balance/fix all the old sets to get them to work with new classes (as this is the biggest change we have had really as some specs are changing COMPLETLY)

There's 0 requirement to make these disabled in TW regardless of many not working or working not as intended.
@emilylorange TW was explicitly made to allow all those set bonuses to work for the purpose of combining them / making use of good old sets. This was stated by blizzard originally. If they didn't want this, they would've made them not work from the start.
