So, I can't be arsed to read through 18 pages of what I can only imagine has largely devolved into political poo flinging.

That said, addressing OP's "concerns," my only advice is "call your congressman."

    Seriously.

"Advocating" for another civil war is tantamount to sedition. Let's put aside how silly the notion of another civil war even is for a second, though. If OP is serious and is willing to plan, recruit, and die for his cause (Oxford commas unite!), all it takes is one wayward citizen to report his actions to either the local PD or FBI via text, phone call, or email even, and he's potentially behind bars for up to 20 years. It's a serious crime, right up there with treason. (In fact, once the first round is fired and his "war" started, it is treason.)

But let's assume no one reports him, and he's successful in securing fealty from every single backwoods militia in the country. Does anyone seriously think any number of militiamen with semi-automatic sidearms and AR-15s would be able to contend with the tactical might of the US Armed Forces? Seriously? I mean, people do know the President is authorized to deploy military personnel on domestic soil to respond to insurrections, right? It's a Constitutional duty... (rendering the 2nd amendment pretty pointless with the amount of raw firepower the Armed Forces has access to, but that's a discussion for another day)

So yeah. Call your Congressmen with your plight, call a news organization, hell, call your local city, township, or other non-specific municipality. Get involved if you take issue with how things are going. Don't sit back and whine and call for a revolution just because you think it'd be "easier."

Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty… I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well.

You can believe as you wish, but I'd like to point out that entering the workforce, getting a living wage, and then owning your own home... is precisely the goal and the effect of a middle class. That is the entire spiel of what the new deal, the American dream was/is about, and what was once attainable back in the days of yore that is the period after WW2.

    it's still attainable now.

Are you saying that middle class in the US nowadays is not getting a living wage and cannot own their own home? Or am I misinterpreting your argument?

My argument is that the whole middle class is shrinking or not a reality for many people. It's shrinking, not growing, as it has been for years now. It's been squeezed out of existence. Making enough to join it has become a pipe dream for a lot of people, and making it into it is much more dependent on luck than ability or drive.

This sounds a lot like one of those "people get what they work for/deserve" arguments coming up, which is odd considering 9 year old children are still getting cancer. And again, it seems a very ungrateful position from one who benefits from others so well.

How do I benefit from others exactly?

I'm not denying that. So many posters where make it out like it's impossible.

Don't get me wrong, there's plenty about our system that needs fixing. Bernie style socialism is not the answer though.

Life is short. Few people want to spend 10-15 years making something out of their lives just to start having a life. There's no guarantee things will remain stable either.

Wealth inequality is going to leave some very deep scars.

I shall embrace your positive attitude much more in my next life mister Tony!

Really though, depending on the field you get into, 10 to 15 years isn't that unreasonable.

    bingo that is the problem

people are lazy. at least you admitted the real reason why. also wealth inequality has been much higher in the last 100 years than what it currently is.

Any government who scares their people by media/propaganda into thinking universal healthcare, living wages, welfare and higher education is bad is disgusting. Along with the people who agree. because to me it's saying - not everyone deserves a healthy life, money to live happily, help in hard times and to be educated.

The masters also didn't want their slaves to be helped, to have money or to be educated.

The American dream is a lie. There is no such thing as equal chance. You think you have an equal chance as someone who was born royal or into a rich family? NO.

It's like we are back in the middle ages where kings/queens ruled the lands and we are all fucking peasants.. don't kid yourselves

Is it shrinking though? I'm not noticing it at all. What I do see is the overall quality of life naturally improving, and lower classes starting to be much better off, approaching the level middle class used to have in the past. Granted, the place I live in is not very representative (it is partially a student town, with incredibly low prices and high incomes), so my judgement may be biased.
