There are cemeteries which are now burying people vertically to save space. The whole horizontal thing didn't take into account how densely populated we would become in some areas.

I guess I"m just confused. The tree route takes your cremated ashes and puts them into a biodegradable urn with the seed of a tree. Then it gets buried. I guess I don't understand what would be illegal about that. I mean more trees is a good thing.

Hmm, interesting. I always thought being buried was silly and wasted a lot of space, but I never thought about the energy costs of cremation. Dumping digested humans into the sewer system seems like it would put more load on water treatment though, which takes energy, wouldn't it?
