Fair enough, but I still stick to my point. Most X-men movies also had high budgets (for that time / around 100 million) and had mediocre box office results. People here seem to compare it to (I know they're just creating unrealistic situations on purpose) either LoTR or Avatar, but I'd prefer to compare it to more realistic 'starter' movies.

Captain America was still the first in line of the Captain America movies and it did poorly (in the box office, that is), yet they still decided to create more (even though the movie had a mediocre reception from both audience & critics.)

    I agree with you
    1. It is a it's a China/US/Canada co-production, Tencent Pictures is a funding company and it's a Chinese one
    2. It will be the 3rd/4th US highest-grossing film in China
    3. And it's a big potential franchise

while i agree with you, you also have to take into account the fact that marvel owns the merchandising rights to all of their properties (although fox gets a small portion of x-men movie merch)

so the movie generates alot of money outside the box office, which is one of the reasons sony was mad about asm2. they didnt get a penny from merch sales and spider-man is the highest grossing superhero in terms of merch. basically free promotion of items they dont make any money off of

Hey I liked The Frighteners eventhough it was a campy B horror/comedy movie. Michael J Fox's last good role. I liked Meet the Feebles which was about obnoxious puppets doing porno and catching STD's etc. Braindead was just too over the top and bad taste, at one point a guy mauls down a bunch of zombies with a lawnmower and there's like 10 inches of blood flooding all around the house they're splashing in. Some parts made me queasy like the dinner scene. So yeah he made some really bad taste movies before LOTR.

Uh...... Iron Man - Worldwide: $585,174,222

Besides, the MCU was never intended to be this big, not until Avengers cleared $1 billion & started hiking up to $1.5. Initially they weren't even planning to do more Captain America or Hulk movies, they were all "maybe, after the Avengers movie, we'll see how that goes." Back then it wasn't about trilogies, it was about setup movies in preparation for the Avengers movie, "& then we'll see."

And after Disney bought the rights and made $1B off all those characters in a movie together(also known as Avengers) it allowed Marvel some freedom with their plan going forward.

    Edit:
The X-Men movies had their sequels greenlit pretty quickly but after 3 did so poorly it took how long to get another X-Men film? And the whole reason they did make more is because of how successful Marvel is. I guess if you want to hope for Assassin's Creed to be successful it might help Warcraft out a bit. Show a demand for VG based films.

They're going to make some money off Spidey merch now though thanks to the deal they signed with Marvel. At least off of exclusive video game titles if nothing else, hehe.
What he said on the X-Men Movies. It took Bryan Singer to pull the damn franchise out of the toilet.

Not to mention, that $300 million for X-Men & $400 million for X-2 is pre-inflation adjustment.

thing is. how much of that money goes to the people making the film and how much goes straight to blizzards bank account?

i dont know what, if any type of deal blizzard has in terms of sharing that revenue. merch sales being raised by the movie are great but it does nothing to help make a sequel unless blizzard puts some of that money towards it.

it be like if everyone who was a lapsed or not yet player of wow subbed with their ticket code. thats blizzards money.

even the "official" merch of the movie might not give anything to anyone other than blizzard.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP0A-NntFU4 Nope. Rothman tanked Singer the first time, then he tried to push him out, so Singer left, did Superman Returns, & only after Rothman was thrown out (finally) did he return to reboot the X-Men, after Rothman defiled them further. He didn't direct First Class, but he did produce it, so he was working on the reboot, technically.

Granted, Singer did drop the ball on Apocalypse, but that's another matter.

Considering we got a couple mauve shirts this movie (Karos and Varis), I'd love to see Nathanos Marris (aka Brightcaller, Sylvanas' best man) show up as one in the next film, as an Alliance ranger. This allows provides fan service without detracting from the plot at all, since he'd just be... well, a mauve shirt. Also provides an excuse to have a human ranger who can shoot bows should Alleria not come in. In fact, considering he was apart of the Farstriders, he could introduced as her bodyguard along with her. Would also set him up as a close friend of the Windrunner family before he gets a role bump in a film that covers Warcraft 3, or anything with Sylvanas really.

Not if those action figurines, weapon and toys are from the WC movie, and not strictly Blizzard lore.

Story different and Lothar, Durotan and co look like Kebbell or Fimmel, I think studio have rights to the look of its actors

That too. Fox was so desperate to cling to Fantastic 4, they rushed that ridiculous Fant4stic through production, knowing the entire time it would be a joke, just so they could hold on to the rights for a few more years.

    Pathetic really, but yeah.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure they traded up Fantastic 4 for the two Mutant TV Shows, so it's highly likely we'll be seeing them in Phase 4 MCU.

Is it part of the Warcraft IP? Then it falls under the Warcraft IP, which belongs to Blizzard.

Nobody divides things based on "if it's based on a pre-existing model, you get more money than I do."

Likeness rights (actor looks) are part of the overall merchandising rights as far as I'm aware.

If it is stricly Blizzard then so be it, so we wait for more news.

Blizzard will get most of it or all of it but it won't surprise me if others get something.

If Legendary or even Universal gets a part of that cake, then there is that.

I would have loved it if the sequel opened with Lothar and Khadgar mourning King LLane, and Lothar spots Khadgar going grey because of all the fel magic he purged in Karazhan.

Reports come in of the remnants of the orc army fought at the end of the first movie marching through Elwynn unto Stormwind. Lothar is totally hate fueled and wants to die killing as much orcs as possible, but Khadgar convinces him to take Variann and the Queen and as many citizens to Lordaeron and survive there. Khadgar throws spells and burns Elwynn to try and slow the army before turning into a raven, because he has Atiesh and flying away.

They arrive at Lordaeron and seek audience with King Terenas who is shocked that Stormwind has been destroyed and vows to aid the newly formed Alliance as much as he can.

Next scene is Proudmoore taking baby Thrall to his keep, discussing what to do with the baby. He says something like "the orcs fight with a ferocity that I have never seen before. I will train it to fight for us".

Meanwhile Orgrim Doomhammer is still running away with a couple of green orcs who gave up on Gul'Dan, including Grommash Hellscream. When resting, Orgrim and Gromm talk about what Gul'Dan and the Horde has become, and how it was all a lie. Grommash reveals Gul'Dan tricked him into drinking demonblood, turning him green and strong, but also overcome with bloodlust and rage. He gets a bit emotional and said the orcs have lost their shamanistic ways. Cursed by demonic influences. Some more talking about events etc and developing his character.

There's a sequence on Draenor where we see Ner'Zhul meditating. He is trying to contact the spirits but they won't answer. He gets frustrated and angry at their silence. Suddenly he is contacted by Kil'Jaeden who promises to give him powers greater than his shaman powers, only if he pledged his loyalty and follows his orders.
Ner'Zhul refuses, but after being convinced by Kil'Jaeden that he shall wield powers no other orc ever has, he agrees. He chants a demonic spell in front of the Dark Portal and it opens once again, amidst green thunder and earthquakes. The world is slowly being ripped apart. Fel energy seeps out from cracks in the land. After the rest of the Horde rushes through, Ner'Zhul breaks down and sees he doomed his home planet that he once cherished. He reminisces on how this used to be a jungle and the world was healthy and alive and the spirits talked to him.
The entire Horde rushes through. On Azeroth Gul'Dan welcomes them and tells them to spread out north, east, south and west and take over everything.

Back in Lordaeron, the Kul Tiras army has arrived and met up with King Terenas. Lothar discusses the plans he has for retaking Stormwind with some generals and Turalyon. He wants to push the orcs all the way back to the portal and finally destroy it. The only help the dwarves send is another shipment of boomsticks. Khadgar flew once again to Dalaran to report Medivh's death, fel corruption, the fall of Stormwind and the exodus to Lordaeron to Antonidas. Antonidas says the orcs will never reach Dalaran which floats in the sky. Khadgar convinces him that Dalaran will fall if it is the only city in the world which has not been torched yet. Antonidas sends a group of warrior-mages to Lordaeron to aid them. Khadgar also demands the Eye of Dalaran, as it is a powerful artifact and will make his spells stronger.

Go'El is a teenager at this point and is rigorously trained and tortured by Proudmoore to 'break him in'. He is given the name Thrall and is taught how to use sword and shield, boomsticks and military tactics. He is often pitted against regular orcs and even tigers from Stranglethorn. He manages to defeat them all. After each fight he is disarmed and put into chains in his cell again. Proudmoore is pleased with this development.

On Draenor, shit is going down, fel lightningbolts hit the ground, rupturing the ground. Ner'Zhul is ordered by Kil'Jaeden to open portals to bring the Burning Legion through to Azeroth, he refuses, and escapes through the Dark Portal to Azeroth. While travelling through the Nether he is captured by Kil'Jaeden and torn apart. His soul is placed in the Lich King helmet and encased ontop Icecrown. Kil'Jaeden says he has a new plan for Ner'Zhul.

Lothar and the other generals arrive in Elwynn Forest, still a big pile of ash, a smoking Cathedral tower is seen in the distance. An orc scout ontop of the walls spots them and sounds the horns. A big battle erupts similar to the charge at the Dark Portal in the first movie. Only this time the Alliance outnumbers the few orcs in Stormwind a 100:1. They celebrate and hang the Alliance flag over the battlements. They leave a small contingent to guard SW and move on through Westfall, Stranglethorn, and eventually The Black Morass clearing out orc camps. Big montage style battle scene with Alliance flags unfurling over the cleared out towns and orc encampments. Call to Arms here obviously. While marching through the Blackrock mountains...

Orgrim wakes up from the sound of incoming humans. He is on a vantage point and spots the giant army trailing behind them. He wakes up the rest of the orcs and they begin to run. They run into Lothar and Turalyon and a couple other soldiers who were forward scouts. He kills Lothar in an epic 1v1 with the Doomhammer. Orgrim looks intimidating at the rest of the humans, yells, then turns around and runs with the rest. Turalyon picks up his sword and does his "FOR SIR LOTHAR" and rushes his blade into Orgrim's back before he can turn around. Grommash picks him up and throws him back, carrying Orgrim on his back to safety. When they reach a safe place, Orgrim dies slowly, giving Grommash Durotan's tusk to give to his son if he ever finds him.

Turalyon rises, and the tensions are on. He suspects that those orcs were a scouting party and they must hurry before they can mount a defense at the Portal. They arrive, and see the handful of orcs left, including Gul'Dan who manages to kill a ton of soldiers with his fel magic before being shot and cut down. They completely crush them and move to the Portal. Khadgar tries closing it but he realises the Portal can't be closed from this side. He runs through with some other mages and soldiers. They are amazed at the planet that is close to breaking apart. He uses the Book of Medivh, Gul'Dan's staff and eye of Dalaran to perform a huge spell that is part Light and part Fel. A huge earthquake almost interrupts his incantation until suddenly, a huge swat of land behind the Portal breaks off, fel gas erupting from the crack. You can really sense that this is where Draenor explodes. On Azeroth, the soldiers watch as they can see Draenor erupting. The portal closes.

What you guys think? I simplified many story elements to make it understable for the audience but kept the major events. Still some plotholes left I typed this up quickly . The second movie could also show the first Death Knights.

I would have gone another way and totally skip the Second War. But you've done a great work and I like most of the things so it deserves to be shared.

Wait NO. No Horde player could never be satisfied with this. Orgrim should die liberating his people from the interment camps along with Thrall. In a camp later on called as Hammerfall (Arathi Highlands) . It's a very important part of our History. Why call our capital Orgrimmar if Thrall never gets to meet Orgrim?.

That's really bad logic. In fact, to me it seems more likely that a person will give credit to someone who did a great did by naming something after them if they've not actually met the person, because otherwise it's a bit dehumanizing and detached. Either way, while that is an okay death for Orgrim, it doesn't actually serve anything. Thrall meeting Orgrim, Orgrim being mortally wounded, telling Thrall the story of his father with his dying breath, the story of his sacrifice, and finally giving him his tusk. Now, that is a death I would like Orgrim to have. In that universe I can actually see why someone like Thrall would wear the armor of Orgrim (which he admittedly doesn't have in the WCU, but whatever).

Sadly no armor. But we still have the Doomhammer.
