Everyone tends to assume they are impartial, rarely is that ever the case. I would argue these self described intelligent people are merely delusional.

Sacrificing people now for some perceived greater goal is easy to make when your not the one who suffers. Technocracy is inherently the opposite of Solidarity.

I've got hungarian friends, Academics who worked in Austria, Germany and Ireland. So they know Europe/EU (your call which) and they profited from Europe/EU. And even they are highly critical of the corrupt apparatchiks in Brussels and everything they stand for.

Northern Ireland voted to stay as well, though much closer than the Scots, so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some pushing for a NI Referendum vote as well.
