It's unlikely that Scotland will leave immediately. If at all. It makes much more sense to wait and see if any other countries seek to depart the EU first - because if they do then there's very little point in Scotland getting up and joining a sinking ship.

It has nothing to do with stupidity and everything to do with democracy. If people want to vote to leave, then they should be able to do just that. If they wish to vote to remain, then again, they should be able to do just that.

There is no way Italy will leave the EU. Even the party that made its political rise over the very same idea (5 stars) has quickly changed rhetoric, now advocating to "stay and change the EU from within". Even if they had a referendum and people actually voted for leaving, the government will find a way to ignore the will of the people (just as it normally does). Italy simply does not have a strong enough economy, industry, finance, cultural and scientific innovation and a good enough government to stand alone and afford all the backslash from an exit.

You do realise that wanting sovereignty is a valid reason to vote for it right? Calling people ignorant just because you disagree with them is actually ignorant.

The thing is, in Poly-sci there is the concept of real sovereignty, and illusory sovereignty - A great example is the Nuclear non proliferation treaty - A state undoubtedly gives up sovereignty by agreeing to never build nukes, but the vast majority of countries simply do not have the economical base to build nukes anyway, so giving it up doesn't matter.
The UK has only given up largely pointless sovereignty, the ability to have their own standards for toasters and shit - to gain real sovereignty, in being able to exert enormous influence over, say, Multinationals, Multinationals who otherwise would be able to ignore the wishes of the UK, but now must quake at the might of the EU.
