This is a situation that could go a number of ways. However, a few of the possibilities as I see it is...
Scenario A1: The EU takes it's vengeance on UK, screws them over and enacts more roadblocks to others leaving. In addition they continue to transfer even more power from the individual states to the EU central bureocracy, further undermining the position of democracy in the western world. All whip. Unrest ensues, the EU either rips itself apart or makes the transition to (*shudder*) an American-like system.
Scenario A2: The EU takes it's vengeance on UK, screws them over and enacts more roadblocks to others leaving. However, the EU system is also reformed to be more democratic, preserving more of each state's power and lessening the drive to leave. Carrot and whip both. The EU might survive.
Scenario B1: The EU gives UK neutral-to-favorable terms. The EU system remains more or less as it is, torn between the forces of democracy and bureocratic power greed. A few more nations leave, the EU survives in some form or other.
Scenario C1: The EU gives UK good terms, but doesn't change the EU system. This results in a lot more nations leaving, and the EU either passes into obscurity, is re-booted as the cooperation system it once was, or dies.
Scenario C2: The EU gives UK good terms, but also enacts huge reforms to ensure that the EU system becomes a truly democratic system. Combined with guarantees of national sovereignty, this eases tensions and prevents more nations from leaving. The EU survives as a less coherent, but more stable union. GB may or may not rejoin after a number of years have passed.
Of course, this is just a small number of the possible outcomes.
Regardless, I congratulate UK on the decision of leaving what has become an increasingly undemocratic and despotic system driven only by greed for money and power. I personally hope a lot more nations will follow this example unless the EU completely reforms their system. The EU was a nice dream that is slowly changing into a nightmare, and perhaps this "Brexit" will change that. I don't think so, but it's worth hoping for!

Perhaps we should have a referendum for Wales and England to leave the UK, I think it would have a reasonable chance of success. That way Scotland and NI would still be in the UK and could also stay on in the EU, though they may struggle to keep up the UK's payments to the EU without England.
Well said Mace. I like you. quite honestly, I've never seen such awful treatment of an opposing voter base than this campaign. the amount of digs/jabs..
'little englander' 'racist' 'xenophobe' 'bigot' 'unecated' 'poor' and the list goes on...
It's time to stop, even the Remain camp acknowledge massive flaws in the EU, the EU said it was NOT going to budge/reform any further. we did what we had to. not what we wanted to. even if you cannot see it yet.
the vote happened, Out won. this foot stamping and whining is insanity.. you either believe in democracy, and understand that the people have spoken and this time, their voices did not match yours. or you can write of democracy and cry for another vote because, this one didn't go your way.
as Mace said, move on, move past it, unite. right now we are neither GREAT Britain nor are we a UNITED kingdom. and for better or worse, we will need to be.
"There are no substitutes for violence of action and volume of fire. Move forward and shoot, always forward and shooting. The enemy will choose to fight and die or live and run either way move forward and shoot and he will fear you absolutely."

Well this proves that everything you're saying right now is coming solely from your emotions and not from rationale. Everything my generation and yours has at this moment in time, has come off the backs of my grandparents generation and generations before them fighting and dying to create. My generation and yours has done NOTHING but throw away everything they fought for. They did not fight for what the EU has become, they fought against this.
Your mind is in turmoil and you're talking absolute rubbish.
I get what you're feeling, this is scary. But it's also exciting. This was not a decision taken lightly, and i can promise it was hard one to decide upon.
The younger generation couldn't even be bothered to vote for the most part. They take things like the NHS and welfare state for granted, whilst the older generations are the people that brought those things into existence through hard work and decades of struggle in the first place.
