Why are the off-topic sub-forums so popular?

They have almost as much traffic as the WoW sub forum on a WoW fansite.

What can the rise of the off-topic sub-forums here be attributed to? What keeps users of a WoW fansite here specifically to have off-topic discussions?

I come back to see the absolute worst humanity has to offer. Extremists on Both sides of the aisle on every issue and each one with a superiority complex. While a vast majority of them talking out of their back side.

Plus Genn spam posts give me alt-news I normally wouldn't read.

It's because everyone has an opinion that they want to share. People come to the site to talk about wow and see Gen-OT pop up on the feed and think: "Hey I have an opinion on this!" and then the share it.

People find the forum because they play wow, and still find the OT section interesting enough to post in after quitting the game. Off-topic is about things other than WoW by definition so it shouldn't really matter what game that an OT forum belongs to.

Because there's a lot of Social Justice warriors on this site. There's a lot of Republicans on this site. See where I'm getting at here? Literally infinite possibilities of topics and arguments you can talk about. Now all you need to do is remove some of the rules and there's some /pol/ tier shit right there.

Also, like pointed out, this truly is a mosh pit of different people, and a lot of different forum options other than just GenOT and WoW to discuss things. It can be interesting.

Off topic forum is non WoW related stuff. We all came here because of WoW. Having an OT forum is nice.
