    European Superstate Incoming

Polish TVP reached 9-page document that is to be presented to the members of Visegrad Group in today's meeting with German minister of foreign affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The document presents a consensus reached in recent post-Brexit meeting of most influential EU countries' leaders, and outlines the future of EU as a single superstate, including:

    - Federal army and special forces, single countries not allowed to have their own army (like in USA)
    - Unification of penal law and tax system.
    - Euro as the only allowed currency.
    - Unified travel visa system.
    - Unified foreign politiciss, with reduced role of NATO.

Majority of most important media in poland are all beginning to talk about this.

Polish minister of foreign affairs Witold Waszczykowski confirms the existence of document:

Arabic will be the common language and country will be called Europastan.

Sounds good on paper, but while Merkel and her lunatic friends are in power, doing everything they can to win Nobel prize instead of caring for their own people, its not going to happen.

Wow. So basically what, the EU is panicking at the idea of more powerful, economically well-off nations leaving them in the dirt, and so they're trying to pull a USA and make secession impossible? Or at least, some of them are?

This will totally end well. Asking people to give up self governance always goes over well.

Consolidation of power is what the EU was all about.

No sovereignty, no borders, onerous inescapable taxation, more censorship, phasing out national identities, and a giant step toward world government.

People should be terrified and staging armed rebellions at the mere plotting of this.

I would guess the rumors were true and the notion of creating EU superstate was very strong in EU structures for a long time. UK was probably the main obstacle for that, as they would never agree for anything similar.

A lot of great men have dreamed of a unified Europe.

Rather drastic move but I fully expect the EU will eventually become a superstate.

You know, the UK is itself a superstate. A central government ruling over four countries with a single set of laws, currency, armed forces...

What is so important about our arbitrary distinctions based on lines on the map drawn decades if not centuries ago by long dead people?

Maybe we should go the other way if it's so important, splitting countries up into smaller countries? Why not start with the US, it's way too big to be a single entity.

    Hitler for a start.

Still looking at the current trends, I wish them good luck on passing the "Democracy" step.

    Self governance.

The EU should start by introducing visa requirements this summer for Canada and America, who still discriminate against Romania, Poland, Croatia and Bulgaria.

I'm not against the idea of a European super-state, I don't really see how beurocrats in Brussels are any worse than elitist wankers in Westminster, but I do think devolution is also an important process. The Scottish parliament and Welsh assembly have both been good for those countries and I'd like to see more devolved responsibilities for other regions as well as greater unity over shared concerns.

The EU vote in the UK is a pretty good example. Scotland and North Ireland voted to stay in the EU but that doesn't mean shit because the English have more power than them.

Yeah I've read the first part so far and there is nothing in it that forbids local armies. The OP is just fear-mongering here. They want to improve knowledge exchange in security matters, meet up more often, finance a EU army or increase cooperation to get something similar that can be deployed to protect the borders/interests (which we already knew).

yeahhh.. never going to happen., not with this union, never.

When they reform and start out small with this idea, and dont grow nearly as fast while staying accountable.. then maybe..

The main issue is the big cultural difference between north/west, southern and eastern europe .. now would be the absolute worst time for this, and ironically enough the mere mention of the idea shows how bad an idea it is.

USA-like federation will never work in Europe due to the language barrier and individual countries having about a thousand or two years of cultural development under their belt.
