Rosenburg isn't that 'big' of a museum. Small galleries can claim whatever they want, even a pile of trash is art. That doesn't mean it's art.

They have to -explain- what makes it art for their argument to hold any ground and they don't. Where's the Artist Statement or a Statement of Intent of the work? Either is normally required for an exhibition for a work or body of works.

You'd never find this piece in a more repeatable gallery like MoMA or the Guggenheim or even in Soho.

These are just raunchy photos. Claiming this is 'art' is like claiming this month's issue of Hustler is art.

Thought this was an interesting piece. Do you consider posting nude photos of yourself with toys/selling the toys to be art or feminism? To me, this just seems like monetization of sex appeal in the most Millennial-esque way possible (taking selfies and putting them on social media) and has little redeeming artistic value.

If it sells, then what exactly is the issue? It's not like it's illegal or anything, according to my understanding. Apparently, there was demand enough for it for people to buy it for that much which others can't say the same for in addition for it to be shown at art shows.

As for it being art, that's something that is in the eye of the beholder. Some people think that modern art is a form of art as well. Art is a subjective form of appreciation that can be viewed differently from each person. So, essentially, anything can be some form of art. In the end, demand is what determines art, and they, at least have that.

Art is entirely subjective so yeah, to some people it's art.

Art is entirely subjective to some people, generally those with no actual classical training in it. Once you begin to actually train as an artist you start to learn it has objective rules and standards.

Imagery is entirely subjective, and more suited to this type of effort and many other types of a non classical/traditional nature. It takes more than being visually evocative and having a philosophical message to be considered art.
