    New build, feedback request

Hey guys, I have started a new build and I'd like some feedback on it. I am in Australia, I will be building it myself - www.pccasegear.com is the site I'm most likely to buy the hardware from but I will shop around. The PC will be used for gaming - from WoW to Witcher 3 - and for 3D Modelling and animation. That said, I'd like to keep the i7 and the 1070 but feel free to pick apart anything else.

I'd like to get the cost down as low as possible but I understand that it definitely will be over the $2000 AUD mark. My knowledge on MOBOs is sketchy at best, I live in Queensland - warmer climate - but I will not be overclocking the CPU so I am unsure on whether I need the liquid cooling on it or not. PSU wattage may be a little higher than necessary as well? Not sure.

Case: SilverStone Primera Case with Window White - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...h-window-white - $129
CPU Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H105 Liquid CPU Cooler - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...uid-cpu-cooler - $169
    CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...-core-i7-6700k - $499
    GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming 8GB - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...-g1-gaming-8gb - $779
    HDD: Western Digital WD Black WD2003FZEX 2TB - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...wd2003fzex-2tb - $179
    SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...-pro-256gb-ssd - $169
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 Black - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...8gb-ddr4-black - $135
    MOBO: ASUS Z170 PRO Gaming Motherboard - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...ng-motherboard - $259
    PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 Gold 750W Power Supply - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...w-power-supply - $159
    OS: Windows 10 - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...-64bit-oem-dvd - $149

    Current cost: $2,626 AUD

I will also need a new monitor but it isn't as urgent and I would like to upgrade from HDMI to DisplayPort as well, but my knowledge is also pretty poor in that area as well.

I do not need any peripherals.

    Cheers all

You dont need the liquid cooling even if you intend to overclock. A decent air cooler will provide cooling that is just as good and likely quieter (the pumps on the AIO water coolers tend to be kinda loud).

You definetely dont need liquid cooling if you dont plan doing any overclocking, also 750W PSU is overkill but this vendor doesnt have any other suitable choices. On HDD if you really need 2TB storage just get two of those drives in the list. I've also included a good basic mobo (as you dont plan to overclock) so please tell me if there are any functions you require from a motherboard.

What kind of monitor do you need? Diagonal, matrix type, max resolution, response time, refresh rate, Freesync/G-sync.

@Kagthul Noted, thank you. That alone, as proven by Thunderball, will drop a decent amount off.
@Thunderball Thanks a ton for taking the time to do all that, the price drop was impressive.

I don't know a whole lot about MOBOs or the features that make them different aside from the different amounts of types of controllers they offer. *Edit: I would prefer having the microphone and audio inputs at the front but I think the one you selected does offer that.*

As for monitors, unfortunately the same deal as the MOBOs, my knowledge doesn't get me very far. I would prefer a minimum of 24', but that's about it, other than the DisplayPort capabilities. Looking at PCCG's range, they don't have many in that size and offering DisplayPort so the selection might be relatively small anyway.

@Bloodlight There is no reason to scrap overclocking if you have a warmer climate. You might lose some 100-150MHz to heat but the benefit is always worth it. I can offer some solutions if you are interested.

On monitors I need some specifics (refresh rate, max resolution, matrix type, diagonal, g-sync).

@Thunderball That's fair enough, I think I'll wait to see how the PC does when under load before overclocking and come back for suggestions. I've never overclocked before, admittedly.

I'd like a monitor with a minimum of 24 inches, preference of 2560x1440 resolution but not necessity, I have no preference on the matrix type, refresh rate or g-sync.
I haven't had an overly thorough search but this is the first one I could find on pccg - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...en-led-monitor

Getting 1440p monitors with lower than 27 inch diagonal is not a good idea, same as lower than 23 inch 1080p.

    AOC G2460PG 24 inch 144Hz G-Sync $555
    ASUS VG248QE 24 inch 144Hz DisplayPort $449
    BenQ XL2720Z 27 inch 144Hz DisplayPort $649
    BenQ GW2765HT 1440p 27 inch 60Hz IPS DisplayPort $569

Now if you're set on trying overclocking I'd suggest switching to this mobo.

    Ah right, I understand.

A better MOBO adds another $80~ to the build cost. I might just increase the time between purchases to raise my budget and ultimately achieve the build that I want overall. Thanks a bunch for all your help, Thunderball.

You're welcome. You can definetely wait for GTX 1070 prices to drop a little, and you can also get EVGA G2 650W/Corsair RM650x PSU if you can find it to save money (I couldnt).
