Also it's not really "limited government" that the current Republican party leaders want when they have added trying to change the constitutional amendment to suit their agenda. This is keeping in mind that public opinion on social hot-topics have shifted to the left, even with Republicans, except for the ones running the party it seems.
Not forgetting, just don't care. Point is, this thread is a giant pearl-clutching that a major American political party hasn't used their platform to explicitly reject the philosophical underpinning of the country in which is seeks power. OMG! How bizarre!

It's not atheism. You believe there is a god but after creating the universe etc there is no interaction with man.

It's not a theocracy, but plenty of idiots want it to be, particularly for only their own religion.

I think they're at a point now where all they can hope to do is motivate more religious folks to show up and vote for them, because their reputation with everybody else has been so tarnished it's not even worth trying.

They've dug themselves into a hole, essentially. All they can do is go deeper.

The party needs a major reform, they need to almost completely let go of the social conservatism. And even then it will take years, before anyone trusts them again.

    In short, they're screwed.

One can only hope. There are plenty of people who will vote for them regardless, whether they be ignorant, stupid, stubborn, religious, or otherwise. That's not saying there aren't intelligent people who back the party, but they tend to lean to just financially conservative, wincing at the other statements and policies of the party and hoping they'll go away.

Let me put it that way, I'd be less surprised if a homosexual Latino woman became president before an atheist in the US. That being said, I think depending on the outcome of this election the Republicans will need to reinvent themselves within the next 2 or 3 election cycles or they will have serious issues keeping up with the democrats. Unless the democrats drift even further to the right..

Yeah that sums up every Republican I've ever met in my life.

Not sure where the crazy ones live.

Well Republicans did gain seats last election, I wouldn't count them out, people will vote for them just to piss off the Democrats.

Is your go-to answer always an empty catch-phrase? Because it's not like you disagree judging your Trump posts about how the party is out of touch with their voters.

I would consider myself a conservatarian. But even I can't back the Republican Party anymore. And the dems are nearly just as bad. I'm a man without a party. I have a feeling there are quite a few people like me. A country with a proper representative.

They just are completely out of touch with reality. It's absurd how outlandish some of those things are.

I think some establishment GOP are out of touch, or at least they are mad that they don't own Trump.

Are they really pushing hteir own Bible > all agenda?
Blindly following an estimated 2000 year old book can't possibly fail. Even blindly following the constitution is a stupid idea and that thing isn't even 300 years old.

And yeah, taking porn from people will totally get you elected.

That's the biggest flaw with the two party system.

I feel like this is the political equivalent of trying to jump out of a burning building to safety ("we're dead anyway, may as well try something"), but instead of a window they found the stairwell from the roof and to the basement and just went off head first.

I've seen plenty of the crazy ones online, but rarely in real life. Now, that doesn't mean I don't find some who are clearly more religious and strict with social change, but rarely have I seen it to an 'are you kidding me?' degree.

Well unfortunately we have many hard lined christians and crazy evangelicals on the right. But then its not like the left is without its share of worsening religious problems these days which I cannot help but think the same what Richard Dawkins said in that Christianity is like a bulwark holding back something far worse. I like Trump's position of 'let the states decide', since America is supposed to be a union of states under small government and all. I have no problems with gays and I feel for the gay community over how their movement was hijacked by the sjw brigade.
I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death to defend your right to say it.

Pretty much, and it's something that both parties do while they move forward the Washington/Wall St. machine.

What I don't get is why people care what they put in their platforms, knowing this shit. If they're so backwards, let them put as much crazy shit in as possible and drive out as many as possible instead of actually helping them out with advice and second guess suggestions. Need that Boogeyman I guess, or they're more afraid of the real one party system than the two heads of one party fakery we have now.
