[Megathread] Pokemon GO

Am I the only person that plays this game without the Augmented Reality on? I can sit in my computer chair and catch a pokemon across the street without having to look like a jackass and walk across the street in traffic, jump someone's fence, and get the cops called on me for trespassing.

Otherwise, I live in a rural small town. I don't live in town, so I have to drive about 3 miles to get to the nearest pokestop (one of the churches). I have had the game since it first came out in the USA, and I am only level 8. I have run out of pokeballs, and am not going to drive 5-ish minutes away just to get 3 pokeballs, and repeating after each hour (or 30 minutes? Not sure how quick they become available). I see on my local area's Pokemon Go facebook group of people with 90+ pokemon, being level 15+, with rare-ish pokemon and Vaporeons with 1100+ CP, then I remember most of them live in the "city" (the more densely populated small town about 15 minute drive away) that apparently has 6 pokestops really close together down along the river. I used to live there too, but moved to the other side of the county. I actually kinda wish I still lived in that crappy area that's run by the fascist Historical Society who won't let you make your 1820's era house too modern.

My strongest is a Vaporeon with 753 or such CP. I get too many damn pidgeys and ratattas spawning around here.

I've seen a few on the radar in SE Texas, but never managed to track one down

I think it's a rare spawn in my area. I caught one the first day in my neighborhood and more have shown up on my tracker but not within range of where I was willing to walk at the time.

So, ran into a Pinsir last night that was CP ???. Had not seen that before.

Also had a Sandshrew pop out of one of my 5km eggs.

AND, just a heads up since I had a "Well, duh!" moment last night: use your 3 use incubators for longer KM eggs vs the short ones.

Pokestops reset every 5 min btw. And I'm in the same boat as you, nearest pokestops and gyms are a 15 minute drive. I've come to decision if I'm going to play and enjoy this game, I'll actually set aside time to go to the bigger town and play for a few hours. Nice thing about the town I go to is that it has 4 stops, that take a little over 5 minutes to hit all of them driving. I essentially have an eternal loop set up, mainly I do this to restock on Pokemon eggs.

As far as leveling speed, use lucky eggs. And don't complain about those pidgeys and ratattas, farm up enough candies from each keeping several in you bag. Then pop a lucky egg and evolve away, you get 1000xp for evolving a mon naturally, so 2000 with a lucky egg. A little later today I'll be evolving 10 pidgey, and 5 or 6 rattata using this, which will likely net me three or more levels. The higher level you are, the more rare Pokemon you'll see. Also, another good tip for leveling is when you go on a walk/ride/drive/etc, use an incense and a lucky egg. I'm not saying you'll only find Pokemon you don't have, but the incense will likely spawn a handful of Pokemon you don't have on your adventure, catching them with a lucky egg active doubles you experience giving you 1200 for a new Pokemon.

This shit works well, I started a secondary account to test these strategies, and I bypassed my first accounts level after two day so now this is my primary.

Is it possible to find a Pokemon in your house? I'm 100 XP from leveling up and have left my game running for the past hour and haven't found anything. I'm curious if it's worth even using my battery in hopes of finding anything when it's too hot outside.

My house is infested with Zoobats and Pidgeys.

My only two eggs have been a Goldeen and a Poliwag, both of which I've never seen in the wild yet. Need to pop into town tomorrow for some shopping, so thinking I might take an elongated wander around by the river to put in a good 40 minutes or so. Will try the incense. For lucky eggs though, I've never gotten any, do you need to be a certain level? I assume you get some while hitting levels sometimes and maybe from pokestops occasionally?

This would probably explain a lot of the errors I have been having. I'm hoping when it does officially launch out here I won't have to start over.

I Just think Niantic Labs could gone better way with the launch.
