That goes under violent speech. Saying you want to kill someone is different from saying you dislike someone.

I suppose it was a self-fulling prophecy that the left would eventually turn into the extreme right. I hope we have ww3 because the lead up to ww1 and 2 are my favorite points in history.

There is a reason why the freedom of speech has been so sacred to Americans, and why Americans so staunchly defend this right. It is impossible to maintain a free and prosperous civilization in its absence. When rational discourse is protected, the delusional errors and policies of would-be tyrants can be brought before the court of public opinion and ridiculed mercilessly--and made irrelevant. If the Internet has showed us anything at all, it is the power of free ideas to move whole societies. The Left knows that it cannot withstand rational criticism, and must therefore force the silence of their critics.

Wow, another European nation that lacks basic human rights, like free speech. I'm embarrassed the US is in NATO with these things going on over there.

But it is "Bild reported that xenophobic and Nazi material was distributed on the group’s Facebook page between July and November last year."

How can you be ok with people getting locked up (or facing charges w/e) for their opinions?

How is that not absolutely horrendously backwards and unjust?

Sure dude. Funny how my line of thinking is in line with what the Germans are doing. I wonder why.

Yeah, having the right to voice your opinion is a human right.

Any country that infringes upon it is not free. It can never be sensible to shut up people.

It is inherently anti democratic and wrong and if democracy is the goal, this cannot be a sensible restriction.

So yeah, call it 'by no means objective' all you want. My point still stands.

If being nazis is illegal in Germany and these people were doing nazi like things then they were breaking the law and were arrested for it. I'm not sure what the outrage is over it.

It's a shame the US doesn't do the same with things like the KKK.

Despite whatever they may claim to be, they have a very specific narrative they are deliberately crafting in what they report and how they report it.
Typical comment. It doesn't look like it could so it's really not that bad. The problem is the suppression of freedom is the issue, not whether or not they have revived the SS. Suppressing freedom has occurred since the beginning of human history. It is ingrained in our DNA and yet it is still unquestionably wrong.

You're an idiot if you think advanced societies don't tolerate mean and unpopular speech. Being able to counter bad arguments with superior ones is how civilization advances.

We don't arrest the KKK because we want everyone to know how ignorant and wrong their views are. They aren't hurting anyone. If anything the people who assault them at their rallies are the ones who are wrong. They are the ones who start the fighting unfortunately. I opened this thread up because I wanted to see what people thought about freedom of speech on this forum. And I'm honestly not surprised with how people are talking about it on here. This forum really is weird.
