Well best of luck to the chap if he's really seeking asylum in England. Optimism has a new poster-boy.

For such a loud mouth, he certainly conceded fast...
These reports seem to be inaccurate. In the last hour I heard the same thing for Germany, Britain, Kuwait and even him being escorted by Iranian fighters to Tehran ... Meanwhile he said he will be on the streets alongside people...
We shall just wait and see.

I doubt ISIS has the time to take advantage of this, they are being pushed back atm so this is not something they would focus on.

So if he is in a plane right now, and nobody allows him to land, where does he go? You only have so much fuel.

Nato will sit out of it as to not alienate the one who stays in control, for turkey this is very much an internal matter.

Crash it into the Mediterranean Sea. Would be nice irony if a Su-24 came by and shot it out of the sky though.

Being allowed to land to refuel is very different than granting asylum.

Nothing more dangerous that religious zealots who see this coup as infidels trying to ruin their country by turning it into a decadent, godless state.
The worse part is that quite a lot of them think that way.

Germany denied him, so he has to try elsewhere, people now saying England.

It's been reported that attack helicopters have fired upon the central intelligence agency in Ankara.
and also that 2 loud explosions have been heard at the center of the cities.

He might be allowed to land and refuel but not have asylum.

I wonder who he'll try next now that the UK said no.

It's far lefist to point out this scheme usually backfire ?

And for the champion of violent solution, if the army take power, it will be much easier for everyone if Erdogan is granted asylum somewhere-''he fled cowardly the country'' sounds much better than ''he had a heart attack in detention''

And don't say it's claptrap, compare the demise of Charles I to the James II situation.

He can come to the US as long as he behaves himself. Not like we don't have a bunch of crazy religious wackos already, he'll fit right in.

Maybe Venezuela, he would fit right in there.

Nope. NATO only intervenes on foreign threats. This coup is considered as domestic therefore NATO won't do shit.
