As an ex-military officer that studied military history extensively, I can tell you that is a pure myth. Civilian armies get and got steamrolled by professional armies, they are meat for the meat grinder. Guerilla tactics are highly efficient, but they require extensive and professional training... or you just get a clumsy circus.

also lol @ your method to deal with tanks, good luck with that (most tanks nowadays are designed to take and withstand impacts of multiple missile explosions, a bit of fire on the outside isn't going to hurt anyone inside the tank).

I can agree with the first part was listing a best case scenario but much less to the second. You cover a tank in enough home made napalm and you can cook the crew.
