I really don't see what the problem is here? How often do you get a new helm/cloak/shoulder? And if it's truly that hideous, just don't equip it until the dungeon/raid is over. If it really bugs you that much, it's not exactly the end of the world to hearth back for a minute and sort it. Hell, I'm all for transmog and yeah it irks me when something doesn't match, but this really does seem to have been blown massively out of proportion by some folk. Games evolve, they're unifying the system which makes sense. What did you do before transmog? You could hide your helm and cloak at will yes, but nothing else matched, you were still stuck as a fugly mug and that was that! Just my opinion x)

Really? REALLY?! Why? What possible reason could there be to tie players to an NPC to do this?

EDIT: I guess this isn't a new change, and it's been in the beta for a bit. I don't have beta access(thanks for that, btw, Blizz), and this is the first I encountered it. My bad, apparently. Still, this is my reaction. Even though it's a relatively minor inconvenience, it's just one more on the pile of minor inconveniences.

Anyway, here's my post from page 3, that hopefully explains where I'm at:
    Buy a yak, solved.

THIS SITE REALLY NEEDS TO FIX THEIR GODDAMN LAGGY FORUM SERVERS, IT'S GETTING BEYOND RIDICULOUS NOW!

We complained about it throughout beta on the official forums, apparently they didn't want the complexity of the option duplicated on the NPC and in the game options

For all of the good things in Legion there are a few weird as fuck changes.

    this being one of them.

  8. #148
Because the new system allows you to save "apparences" like "blue ice set", "red fire set", "green jungle" or whatever, and the display of your helm / cloack / shoulders can change for each set and they don't want you to have to go escape -> interface -> display -> hide x/y/z when you switch and appearance, it's automatically handled by the new appearance system.

It's just so simple. I don't understand why people are getting mad.

    This change is A-MA-ZING actually.

You can save different outfit, with or without cloak, with or without helm and with or without shoulders !!!!

Without having to go in the options to remove or turn back showing helm/cloak.

    THANK YOU BLIZZARD !!!!

I'd wish they would just at least give us a option to transmog to SLOTS for twice the price or something instead of your actual Gear itself :\

It's so easy to figure out why Blizzard does this - Its called illusion! They want people traveling in and out of the city so the game appears crowded and that a lot of people are playing the game. Seems pointless when everyone will be out grinding artifact weapon stuff anyways. <insert ironman rolling eyes>

This, basically. It's all integrated into one system now, it's more intuitive and works better between different outfits.

Yeah, the small inconvenience of the menu option being gone now is a little initially awkward for long-time players who are used to it, but since they remade transmog from the ground up it's a good time to integrate it all together. Hiding appearance slots should definitely be part of transmog and not a randomly hidden menu option in Interface menus.

I am fine with this change as long as i can go to the transmog NPC and make it so that helms are never shown on any of my chars, just talking to the NPC once.
The moment i have to do this each time i equip a different helm, or individually with all my chars, it is gonna suck.

This, this, so much this. They talk about outfits and all, but when they mentioned outfits, I imagined what every single other game with outfits has: you choose how you look regardless of what gear you are or are not wearing.
How exactly does the system work with the different specs anyway?

Yeah, but only if the option is enabled, otherwise it does not interfere with anything, so i am still not able to see the problem.
I enable the option because i want no helms on any of my chars, so the override would work as intended for me.
If anyone wants helm only sometimes, then disable the option and use the transmog only.

Personally, I find the hide helm/cloak in the settings a bit clunky, don't you? Bringing all the 'aesthetic' parts of the game to one window just makes sense, I feel people won't even bat an eye at it after a week or so. It's not broken, it's just not intuitive, in my opinion.

People who would want to hide their gear are either roleplaying, in which case wouldn't taking the piece off make more actual sense? Or have just gotten a new piece of gear, you could not wear it until after (unless it's raid progress/etc and massively increases your output, but then you really should have a higher priority on that if that's you're thing). Or are changing their look, which you'd be at the vendor for anyway. I just don't see what all the fuss is about

You need to visit a npc to change how your items look like? Damn those evil basters.
Seriously it makes more sense like this than having an option in interface menu

You would only need to go to the options ONCE, and just in the event you had previously had enabled hide helm or cloak, otherwise you would not need to go to the options at all.

And again, it is ok as long as going just once to the NPC i can disable showing all helms and for all my chars.

Yeah sure, but keep the same functionality it had when it was in options in display and we are all ok with it.
