There is a small Muslim population in Japan, and I've been there quite a few times, talking to people about things overseas - no one talked about Muslims at all, except for one very old guy who used to work as an ambassador in Kuwait: he said he really liked the place and people.
Japan is a pretty self-contained country, and simple folks do not care much about what happens beyond their borders, except for the US, which is a big topic there. They definitely do not discriminate against Muslims - not any more than they do against other foreigners. In fact, from what I understand, they dislike Chinese the most.
Immigration too. Their economy got stale in the latest years, and they suspect that them being isolated from other nations might play the role in it. There were a lot of pro-immigration demonstrations a couple of years ago, and I think they even got the government to make the law a bit more liberal in this regard.

what the hell are you even talking about "get it your way"?
Are you putting words in my mouth again? Tell me exactly what it means so we can have a discussion instead of assuming what I want based on your wrong perception of me.
... please grow up and learn to argument like a somewhat educated person instead of slandering people
Since you seem - unsurprisingly - unfit to google, let me help you:
Indeed. I wish I could say I was amazed at the naivete displayed by some posters here, but they/you really should know better. Here's a quote from the German "Pressekodex" that underligns how well certain parties have already managed to blur the definition of "impartial reporting" in favour of political objectives.
Source: wxw.presserat.de/pressekodex/pressekodex/#panel-ziffer_12____diskriminierungen (need to fix the url manually ("www"), can't post links yet)Richtlinie 12.1 – Berichterstattung über Straftaten
Translation: If suspects belong to ethnic, religious or other minorities, this should only be mentioned if required for understanding the issue presented. Press should bear in mind that pure mention of such could incite prejudice against minorities.
Whether good-intentioned or not, this guideline reveals that we have long departed from the idea of press neutrality and impartiality. Facts should be presented as they are; reporting should not be subject to considerations whether it conforms to political goals or not. This official document proves that press neutrality is no longer a goal.
N.B.: I am not sure any of this is pertinent to this tragic event; but Ji-tae definitely has a point in being critical of mainstream media reporting. There could very well be elements to the story that are withheld on purpose.

Suspect a Iranian - German
About 2 years ago, we had an Iranian immigrant go nutty & hold people hostage in Sydney .
Iranians can be quite arrogant.
As far as immigration goes, you never see Chinese or Asian immigrants go nutty and on MASS killing sprees.
So rather that the 3-6 shooters they where talking off earlier, this seems to be another attack from that
most despised fellow..

It is very hard to go along in the world, if your country is socially isolated from it. There was no inflation in Japan till recently, none - however, now the old model of self-contained production is no longer viable and competitive, and they seek to change it. They will likely follow the example of countries like Canada or Australia, strongly favoring qualified specialists, rather than European model with a more equal distribution of various social classes.
The guy had Iranian citizenship; it isn't even clear whether he is religious yet.
