I'm not really sure what the point of this thread is. I've seen some great serious costumes and others who make their own costumes purely for fun. I'm pretty sure a lot of the considerably bad cosplayers know they don't look like the character but go for it anyway. But who I am to know, I don't dress up for Comic Con. Last time I went I was reminded how badly those places stink.

One of my facebook friends is into cosplay. I always cringe when i see pictures in my timeline. 2% of the cosplays are good, 98 are just pitiful.
