Weren't sold. Contractually bound. Very different. That's what I mean when I atalk about differences that you're refusing to see because you have it tied up with hating America for some reason.
And no, slavery in itself is not bad... when done with the consent of the person to be enslaved. Generally, in such cases, contractual agreement helped them, or their families, while preventing maltreatment because they weren't property, they were workers.
But if you'd like I can express-ship you a wide brush so you can continue painting.
Slavery has evolved. No longer are modern slaves in chains, we're in debt.
Just for clerify for those that don't seem to have the ability to see past race. Go read a little Shakespeare... Specifically Othallo, if you think British treatment of a moor is correlated with your race baiting... The motives of Brittain during colonization and US treatment of slaves is extremely different. It's why they didn't and don't have the race issues we do... The relationship detailed in Othallo, was illegal in US just around 50 years ago...

And then in the 1960s switched the part of its voter base that was the former anti-slavery coalition for the dixiecrats who were the previously pro slavery factions.
The transformation took time but now it is pretty much completed that the republicans and democrats largely swapped large geographical areas worth of voters. It is also reasons why you see donald trump the republican nominee polling at 0% amongst african americans in some battle ground states.

OK this is completely delusional. The southern strategy put quite a few republicans in the white house. Why do you think Reagan talked about states rights all the time? It was because the southern old confederate states saw desegregation as an infringement on their right to discriminate. They wanted the federal government defanged so they could reimpose Jim Crow.
His point was that government was in the business of hiring slaves but stopped at a certain point, thus the White House wasnt just built by slaves. The whole fed and housed part was thrown in there to show how the government treated the slaves.Slaves that worked there were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government, which stopped hiring slave labor in 1802. However, the feds did not forbid subcontractors from using slave labor. So, Michelle Obama is essentially correct in citing slaves as builders of the White House, but there were others working as well. Got it all? There will be a quiz.

So they should cater to hispanics by ignoring immigration laws?
IMO this is why the republicans are on the dead to nowhere. They can't admit what their party has become and so cannot undertake the self-reflection necessary for change. That racism inherent in their party then leads them to nominate Trump which everyone else sees as a racist bag of ****, whereupon they go "racism, what racism?". That in turn completely destroys any credibility republicans have with non-whites and so democrats win those demographics by landslide percentages.
Now I'm willing to bet republicans will now chime in in reply where they either a) Try to paint democrats as the "real" racists or b) Completely deny racism has ever existed in their party.
Slavery was only bad for some who were mistreated by their owners.
Some who had owners who treated them well even were ok being slaves
No joke
That's not what I said at all, the Hispanic vote was actually trending towards republicans around the 30 - 35%. It would not have taken a lot for republicans to dominate this demographic, Donald Trump has gone out of his way to send those numbers in the opposite direction.
