I know everyone is super pissed at Subaru for "rejecting" Rem but she seems fine with it and at least he's being sincere which I think is one of his draws for Rem. She's pretty servile by nature so maybe that's what she's into :P. Guess what UnifiedDivide is saying in their spoilers kinda backs this up.

Cracking episode anyway, even if it was massive heart to heart between 2 characters and we can now finally move the plot on after being in this quagmire for god knows how long now lol.

It's unfortunate that more people don't come here to talk about this show, because I simply do not have the desire to sort through a megathread as vast as 'all anime' to talk about one show. As such the megathread doesn't feel like an appropriate place to discuss a show to the degree I want to discuss it. Eh, maybe I'm a weirdo but this is why we have show and movie megathreads.

I do like a lot of anime, but not most gross anime that people these days are into. And by gross I mean lewd. I have really strict sensibilities in entertainment randomly. That means I don't watch a lot of anime, but it seems like quality is increasing in this current era. The last 10 years have been...iffy.

So yeah, I have 91 days in my queue but haven't started. Just started Sweetness and Lightning, b/c slice is my jam these days. It's just that you can't tell until you watch, then it goes from normal to gross in like .5 seconds. Food Wars was like that. I'm like yeah...a cooking anime, this will be so awesome...oh wait, essentially food tentacle orgasm porn, no thanks.

Re:Zero had me a little worried from the get go b/c of the typical costuming, but they've done a nice job making it a very sensible anime that relies on actual story telling to shock you as opposed to Rem's breasts popping out when she fights or something. Gore doesn't bother me as much, and this is pseudo horror, so it works and doesn't feel forced. The way this anime subverts a lot of expectations and then gives into others keeps it really fresh. I never know what to expect, other than just cool story telling.

91 Days is fantastic! Amaama to Inazuma is the kind of cooking anime I'm interested in, I started Shokugeki when it started airing and it just wasn't for me. It's not that it put me off with the foodgasms, it just wasn't for me.

Good thing about Re:Zero, for you then, is that it stays that way.


A complaint I see quite often. And it's a laughable one, imo. Look at all the shit he has to go through, that he can't even talk to people about lol You think you'd be a cool guy after all that?

That said, things change from episode 18 onwards.

And he dealt with it pretty good in the beginning. instead of whining and crying he used it to make better choices. To learn what he did wrong and to make things better. Then he went emo and cried about how he couldn't change things.....

I get this. I truly do but I think it was a little overly done so or maybe dragged out a little too long before turning the corner. It does appear that he is in an impossible situation but we will see what he can cook up.

One a side note Rem really scores a 10 on the sweet meter. It was kind cool. While he was ranting you could see Rem just standing there nice and cooly waiting for him to vent before she started.

Not to derail the thread - @UnifiedDivide - It is a shame you do not like Food Wars. I have quite enjoyed it. The lewdness has become a little less pronounced than at the beginning but the over the top foodgasms are still there.

Almost every single character is an incredibly retarded, insufferable cunt, but at least it was entertaining to see the main character dying over and over again in unironically dramatic death scenes... that aren't dramatic at all, because he just resets with no consequences. But he still acts like a giant pussy about it every single time. Man, he sure is an insufferable cunt.

But then after finding his way through the incredibly retarded repeated deaths at that mansion, it just got boring as hell. Partly due to all the characters being insufferable cunts, but also because it's impossible to care about the plot at all, which I don't even know what is yet. Why do I care if whaterface becomes ruler? Why does the main character care? 'Cuz she's cute? Also, about that... what the fuck is wrong with the main character? Every single character in that mansion tries to kill him. Those twins are both violent, psychotic, sadistic, irrational murderers. And he fucking decides that it's super important to help them, because he loves them? Why the fuck does he love them? All of them have killed him, for incredibly inane reasons, without giving him any chance to explain himself. Not that he even tries, the giant retard that he is. I can only assume his problem is that he's a terminal otaku, and thus cannot withstand the kawaiiiii

Hardly a surprising assessment if you only watched 13 episodes, honestly. Though you sound incredibly bitter and angry about it lol Pretty depressing that your most interesting thing was that the MC dies a lot and then as soon as he stops dying over and over for a bit, this is the post you write.

I could go into why you should stick with it, or why certain things happen and so on and so forth but, I can't be bothered lol I don't feel like this is the show for you, which isn't a bad thing. Plenty of other anime out there to watch these days lol

I actually empathise with Subaru more so than I have with any anime protagonist. You're entirely right pointing out that actually it's mental that he wants to have relationships with people that have previously killed him but these people are also his entire world. He's dropped into a cruel world where he knows no one, has no resources or exploitable skills to actually survive on his own and would have no idea what to do even if he did. It's a bit like Stockholm syndrome in that the only way he can survive is to come to "love" his captors. Subaru has to make these relationships work because he's dead without them.....and a lot of times with them :P.
