AU Draenor still could have happened even without Garrosh but it may have been different... a lot different
Khadgar? Khadgar was fighting Gul'Dan. He failed. Then he teamed with Maiev before heading to Karazhan. There, he found nothing. He was too late. So he came back during the assault, freeing up the Demon Hunters - or at least I believe Khadgar recommended it to Maiev.

nightwell.
and there's a giant portal right in the temple behind him...
+ its also a big never ending fel battery...

the WoE was for sargeras, not for a few doomguards and pitlords.
and the dark portal was for connecting azeroth and draenor so the orcs can fuck stuff up.
Formerly known as Arafal
The Lich King is weakened when he's on consecrated ground, as is Tyrion when he's on desecrated ground. You don't get much more Desecrated then Sargaras's Tomb. He managed to summon enough light while he was being ignored, he couldn't do so this time with the position Guldan put him in.
How awesome would it have been if Garrosh was still alive and he and Varian died together putting aside their difference for one final time.
Thrall should have picked Saurfang to be Warchief ahead of Garry. Even though, Garry had some flaws, he was a true Horde Warchief. Blizz should have developed his character a lot more and given him a story line where he could redeem himself. The death in AU Draenor was stupid. IMO he should still be Warchief. Sylvannas is a terrible choice and makes zero sense. She is all about her Forsaken but she has never cared for the Horde as a whole. This is shown time and again. Thrall, Garry and Voljin never trusted her. Now shes the Horde leader??? This has more to do with what is going on in the world with feminism that lore.
Also, I think your feelings about bringing Illidan back are wrong. Bringing him back wasnt for lore reasons it was for fanbase reasons. Illidan, after LK is the most awesome hero. Just like Guldan after Sargeras is the most awesome villain. Anyway, Illidan and Demon Hunters were brought back to bring back players. This is a nod to the LK model. DH=DK, Illidan=Arthas. Even the pre invasion event is very similar to how it was before WotLK launched. Blizz is throwing everything out there that the fans wanted to get players back. However, this has nothing to do with lore and more to do with $$$.
I prefer Saurfang to be Warchief. Why do you say hes invisible? For christs sake, hes in Org. You actually have to talk to him before going into the war room to speak with Voljin...
Oh and Khadgar was out playing touch butt with Demon Hunters while Horde and Ally were getting curb stomped by demons. Theoretically this is all happening at or around the same time.
So why can't Kil Jaeden just shrink himself and come through a portal? And this AU guldan attack MU Azeroth right?
He is summoning the portal in the place where the avatar of sargeras died previously along with countless wards setup by aegwyn herself. That and the place already has a connection with argus.
Gul'dan is not a pawn of Sargeras. He only does things for himself, and his only reason for helping the Legion is because he knows that even with his new power he got from KJ he wont have enough power to enslave all of azeroth by himself

No obviously its the dead MU gul'dan attacking the AU azeroth that we have no connection to at all. Thats what legion is about. Us doing nothing while a dead guy does ssomething somewhere else.....
The portal is open there bercause during the War of the Ancients the legion tried to open a second protal there. They didnt open and dudes sealed the protal with magicalwards, the same that guldan breaks in the audio novel. Nothing to do with sarg corpse there

garrosh was a terrible warchief. And u thinking that Sylvanas is a poor choice.....i dont think u know the lore very well.....
I disagree entirely. Yes Sylvannas was never trusted, and for good reason the acts she commits in Cata and MoP are terrible. Things were leading up to her being propped up to become the next Garrosh. However I don't think us killing Sylvannas is an option, she's too popular and for another Horde faction leader to go bad would make the Horde look awful.
Sylvannas was picked out of desperation, this is a Legion invasion, things don't get much worse then that, she won't do anything malicious until the Legion is stopped, the Horde can worry about her later. I think Garrosh is just an awful character and tbh I didn't start to like him until his final cinematic (and now i kind miss him). Unlike Varian he has no reason to have such unseething hatred for the Alliance, he knew nothing about them until recently, the core of his character is really that he's just a hot headed Draenor orc who doesn't believe in diplomacy. He had potential in Cata, but I think Blizzard made a choice between Garrosh or Sylvannas as to who goes bad.
You are right about Illidan though, Blizz is tail coating off the character's popularity as they did with Grom for WoD. But Chris Metzen was asked long ago at a panel if a redemption story for Illidan could be possible. And like I said a lot of things in TBC just didn't make sense or weren't well fleshed out.
While Varian Wrynn's death cinematic was epic, it hit me right in the feels as well. After the novel Wolfheart I really liked Varian. Seeing him jump off the air ship into what he knew would be his doom, I was really hoping to see him go down swinging, taking out several demons until finally being cut down (in the way he almost was). To see him do something so heroic, to fight so valiantly, I really wanted a true warrior death for him. Instead, he was mortally wounded, then held in place to be melted by Gul'dan.
