[Theory, may contain spoilers] Varian is the new Avatar of Sargeras

The Broken Shore scenerio made me think a lot about Varian, past history, and Blizzard's in general story telling.

Given this, I believe that Varian will be the Avatar of Sargeras and the final boss of Legion. Wild accusation? Absolutely. But here is my reasoning:

Varian is not shown to be killed, an explosion occurs around him. Since Varian is not directly shown to be killed, this absolutely allows him to make a come back.

This is not the first time a hero is thought to be dead. Bolvar was thought dead, but eventually became immortal and the new Lich King. This also sets up the plot-possibility that a creation destroys its master (as the Legion, propgated by Sargeras, created the Lich King).

Gul'dan "embeds" Varian with an orb. This can be percieved as a bomb, but this can also be percieved as an impregnation of some sort. This would not be the first time that someone has been infused with the spirit of Sargeras, as Aegwyn was impregnated with the power of Sargeras which carried into her son Medivh.

If Varian becomes the Avatar of Sargeras, he would be a raid boss, specifically the end all boss of Legion. This would cause players to once again fight a race leader, and make the score tally 1 to 1 (Garrosh for horde, Varian for alliance). Jaina being a Dreadlord would throw this for a loop. Unless you consider Jaina and Nazgrim on the same tier.

There was a hidden scenerio that involved Stormwind Harbor, and Stormwind City, burning from fel flames. This could be a foreshadowing of Fel-Varian, Avatar of Sargeras, returning to his home and destroying the remaining resistance of Azeroth. Effectively an inverse Siege of Orgrimmar.

What more would force Anduin to grow up, then slay his own father, the former King. This also allows the possiblity of the Avatar of Sargeras "having Kings blood" be stronger, and would also follow the idea that Sargeras wants to posses a strong corpse (Medivh was the Guardian!).

you didnt saw him die ? did you close your eyes when he exploded ? hes dead like ultra dead there are characters that still have a body when they where kill off varian explodes and ppl still think hes alive and well , and even if hes alive hes probably thinking how is he gonna make his ppl to make him another statue of himself , useless caharacter spend years sitting on a throne doing nothing hes better off dead and we are better off without him

If anyone is going be the vessel for Sargeras it's Illidan. Why would Gul'dan make one of his dramatic speeches about him dying if he wasn't going to kill him? Why would Sargeras choose a mortal human to be his avatar anyway? There's no way his body could contain that power it would explode...like how Varian did when he died.

Gul'dan killed varian similarly as to frieza killing krillin, so if anduin is supposed to be like the goku....then...Super Mortal Wrynn?

Hey, I'd watch that cinematic of khadgar/anduin ass whopping gul'dan anyday. And that's real.

I can call they will make Silvanas been corrupted by an old god and try to became the leader of the scourage and they people will try to stop her or something. Varian's death wasnt shown directly on-screen because itd be considered gruesome enough to up Wow's PG rating.

Also, Sargeras wants to use Illidan's corpse as his avatar. Why bother with a normal, boring human when Illidan's corpse is already in the Legion's possession? There is nothing about Varian that could possibly interest the Legion, beyond killing him.

Guldan literally says to Varian that he is going to die. ("You will be remembered as the king who died for nothing" "who died" "DIED")
Meaning Guldan intends to kill Varian, not make him a vessel.
All those "Varian isnt dead" theories now are worse then at the time his memorial in new stormwind park was datamined.

This would mirror the theme of Arthas being corrupted by evil and returning to destroy his homeland. I wouldn't put it past Blizzard to recycle that theme. But it seems pretty contrived.

I suspect that if anything it would be more of a Bolvar, with Guldan sadistically twisting Variants corpse to some sick purpose.

And what about the theories that Variants will become one of the four horsemen, raised to be a DK during the DK order Hall missions?

Speaking of, why was Gul'dan completely unfazed by that huge explosion right in front of him? We saw a massive chunk of energy leave Varians body violently, and that didn't kill Gul'dan. We have to conclude that he implanted some demonic funness in Varian that made his body immune to explosions, but pushed his soul out through his skin.

Three points I want to make to respond to this:

1. This is not a spoiler. It's speculation. A spoiler is when you know something that other people don't and want to inform them. We don't put the spoiler tag on something about which you're just guessing.

2. Even if you used the spoiler tag in the correct context, you don't list the spoiler next to it. Your tag is supposed to warn people away from reading the post if they don't want to know. If you put the "spoiler" in the title, then you've blown it.

3. Your reasoning about the racial leaders as bosses being 1 to 1 is flawed. Blizzard does not go out of their way to balance things like this. They'll make a boss based on a good reason to fit their story, not simply to even the score.
