I take solice in knowing he's a unhappy person with a awful personality, who will continue to be irrelevant for the remainder of his life.

So while service members are getting laid, and veterans are going to school and getting good jobs, he will still be the salty shit we all expect.

Yeah I worked through college and have no student debt and have been employed except for a small stint since college. I bought my first house at 25. I'm in track to retire at 45 ish.

But books and living costs arent, even here in the land of "everything is free", students will take loans to get through their education, oh and they'll pay taxes too, which will go into the big pool that pays for the "free" stuff.

There is a difference between covering living costs, and taking huge credits to pay for university. Besides, you can work and cover your own expenses. Finally, families can also support their children if they can afford it. So yes, the difference is huge.

Do not confuse patriotism and support for Servicemen with Militarism.

One can be critical of the military, defense policy and even servicemen, and in the same time being patriotic and be supporting the troops.

Since 2001 we developed an extremely unhealthy relationship with the military. Consecutive governments both Democratic and Republican conducted an absurd, wasteful and counter productive series of wars, exempt from criticism under the excuse of -Support the troops!

Good post, and as a US Army vet I agree. Never be afraid of giving both open ended support and criticism for both the military and the troops. They're often deserving of both, and it's through both that their missions and perspective are reinforced to themselves and others.

Always be critical of the government and its' uses for the military. Give them no rest in denouncing the overstep of their bounds and perogatives.

Yawn, last time I checked, Canada had troops in Afghanistan, and has been living under the Aegis of U.S. military protection for a long time.
