I really like all of the maps. They are all so distinctive. I prefer this style of art in games over forced realism.

My only gripe with Overwatch art style is that I do feel like I am playing a kid's game at times. I bet it is even more noticeable to people older than I am. That is easy to overcome with how well designed it all is. Sometimes I do wish it was more geared for mature audiences, but there are plenty of other games to get that fix.

I also love the world tour. Reminds me of playing the first few Tony Hawks. That game had some great maps as well.

I dont really get the demand for that. I am 28 and love the art style of the game, would not even connect that to "a kids" game.
So who are these "mature" audiences? Also of the recent blizzard games have this style.

Blizzard goes with this art style because it holds up better over time. When you push hyper realistic graphics they tend to look dated far faster than cartoon style. At the same time it would be even less realistic to have these characters with all their gimmicks in a real live world. It would just look off imho.

It's one of the reasons why TF2, WoW, etc stand up better after many years compared so like COD.

I sincerely hope we get Balderich von Alder's armor as a legendary skin for Reinhardt! I love the two-handed morning star, distinctive tabard and fur collar he has, hope it includes a fur cloak!

Maps like this, a reverse hybrid, seem more fun than our actual hybrid maps. Can't wait to see if it's like this.

Looks awesome, glad to see they're adding a map that has something to do directly with the Omnic crisis.

I don't understand the complaint that you're playing a kids game.. If you want realistic art styles, there's CoD, ARMA, and Battlefield. Those are also games who "try" (I'm being very generous here..) to be realistic.
Then there's Overwatch that has NO base in realism whatsoever, and has a very distinct style to their art which looks like it COULD happen irl.

In both situations, gameplay matches the artstyle. At least to some extent

According to the level designer, it's just a normal hybrid map.

Well that's a disappointment.. I hope the match ends when the payload gets to the body then. Otherwise no one will notice it during the match, and that'll be a shame.

I guess it is more like some characters have childish personalities. I do play a lot of Dva, Tracer, and Junkrat so that may explain it.

For some reason it feels less acceptable to play this type of shooter versus COD and Battlefield. America, eh.

They confirmed on the Gamescom stream that Balderich von Adler's armor will be a new legendary skin for Reinhardt. Time to save up another 1000 coins again.

https://youtu.be/axPSTHRYpZw?t=14m45s Is where they talk about the new skin.
One day I was walking and I found this big log. Then I rolled the log over and underneath was a tiny little stick.
And I was like, "That log had a child!"

I mean, if it wasn't, I'd be very surprised. It looks almost exactly like Reinhardt

So, does anyone want to discuss the gameplay of this map?

I genuinely feel the first chokepoint is way too small and favours a primarily defensive lineup way too strongly.

Comparison being Tempel of Anubis and Volskaya both have wide archs with something breaking up the middle, allowing for some cover when you split to the sides.

    What do you all think?
I have no gripes with it past the first chokepoint, but I find it way too punishing.

I hate it, the first point isn't so bad; you can fly over the buildings with D.Va or Pharah and take the point almost uncontested, at the very least it'll pull the defenders from the bridge choke and allow the rest of your team in. Of course, this means whether or not you can take the point depends entirely on whether your team take such a mobile offence in hero select. I've defended it as Bastion without taking my finger off the LMB before now, cradling my face in the other hand at how much of a joke it can be.

Where I really hate it is the first escort phase. The U shaped road is far too porous for flanking; and the vertical elevation completely irrelevant for half the roster. It was advertised with that verticality as being good for snipers and defence heroes, but it's really not good at all for them for those reasons.

Finally, once inside, defending the last corner is far too easy, there's not enough options or room to flank at all.

There is an alternative route around the first chokepoint your team can utilize using Pharah, Lucio, Genji, and D.va (go out the right and fly around the castle wall). This is a popular and reliable way to get round the first chokepoint should your team ind it too diffiult to breach.

Alternatively, the attacking team can just bring a Bastion to break open a path through the chokepoint with Rein and D.va protecting Bassy from the defending team.

Genji, Winston, Mei, D.va, Pharah, and Reaper can also simply leap over the chokepoint bridge and break up the defending team's encampment.

Both options effectively mean you're in a 1v6 situation, in many cases, and in a better situation, a 2v6. Meaning if they collapse and clear, you're in a 6v4 situation( Granted, if things dont go your way) I find this a strange compromise to a rather easily defended position.
