Yet they either still play for god knows what reason, or even worse, unsubbed but think it's worth their while to hate on a game years after they've stopped playing.

*Latest great example being Blizzard fixing the outright broken exp from invasions as they went from 1~2 to 3~4 simultaneous, and accusing them of doing it to boost lvl 100 sales. Like what the fuck?

Will everything on the frontpage become true? Probably not, that's reality. They seem to have learned their lesson, no more shit about "we want yearly expansions" because yearly expansions take too long to develop just the foundations and then the actual doable content is lacking. WoD was destroyed thanks to feedback in MoP that claimed only raids should be rewarding (because otherwise it's fucking mandatory chores)
They want to space content releases better, make more content for Legion over the expansions timeline than to finish release, polish a bit further, pump out a major and minor content patch and then work on the next expansion. They're returning to designs that made things take time and have meaning. If I want to craft the best available profession gear I'm not going to be able to do so just by walking straight up to the AH. Now you're MASTERING your profession.

Return of relevant gear from factions, world quests to keep the world alive, Mythic+ scaling, Titanforge to make a wider range of the available content potentially rewarding for you. Artifacts that are NOT supposed to be capped within 2 weeks as a 10 hour / week player.

I am HOPEFUL, and sympathetic because I try to see WoWs development not just from our whiny entitled forums, but also how things actually work. Understanding that game design isn't just about showering players in loot and gold stars for participating, but to make things feel substantial, effort is required, and effort takes time as well.
I am sadly SCEPTICAL, but not to the degree that I feel like I'm contributing to anything by posting negative shit in every News post or forum thread that tries to be positive. Yeah, WoD became shit. In many ways due to feedback that were prevalent on these forums too.

Or did you enjoy WoW without farming for mats or rare items, daily quests for reputation, actual gear from factions, professions that felt worth spending time on? Did you enjoy the WoD focus on "one-time" content, and without mandatory chores, instead we got 'choices' just like we wanted?

No. So you stood in the Garrison in a queue...
Yet I have no doubt there will be a bunch of whining in Legion that things take "too long". Compared to what?
You want things to do in an MMO that is what you get.
Loved your post and this presents how I feel too. But I tipped over to the more negative side and I am not particularly hopeful.

On the matter of why I still play (I was unsubbed until recently due to having nothing to do) - Sunk costs have certainly a part in me still playing. But far less then I used to.
Currently it is as I explained in a previous post in this thread. There is no other game that keeps my interest. Skyrim could for a while. Diablo III could for a while. Zelda could for a while. But other games...a week at most? You know how expensive that is? Or how for me games seem to be crap?

So WoW... with all its faults is still worth more and cheaper then just buying games that come out.
WoW still has a story to tell that I like to be a part of.
But WoW is no longer as enjoyable as it once was. It no longer can keep my attention or prolong my enjoyment as it used to do. This started mid Cata.
So gradually the game becomes less and less attractive. But still way better and cheaper then any game outthere.

Should I not complain to "the makers" about my grievances? Should I not want to have an even better game?

But you created your own expectations, and then when 'the makers' didn't live up to them you became aggrieved. That's like telling your wife you are taking her out, she then gets the idea that its for dinner, dancing at some black tie affair, and then you take her to say Olive Garden, she becomes disappointed and makes you sleep on the couch for the next week... Ask yourself, what happened here?

What happened in your example is a situation that comes from bad communication. Which is about the same as what happened with Blizzard.

Actually not, Both are examples of one party clearly expecting more out of an event and reacting badly when those self-created expectations are not met. Another example would be the neighbor kids dig a hole in YOUR yard, they fall in and get hurt and blame YOU for them falling in to the hole because its YOUR yard.

Look I understand what you are trying to say but your examples are seriously bad for what you are trying to say. I won't pick them apart like many others on this site do - but I will need to disagree with your examples. Again I do understand (because I understood your trail of thought beforehand) so examples are not required.

You may 'understand' what I'm saying, yet you continue to blame Blizzard, do you not?

I don't particularly blame blizzard for their promises - if you read my OP thoroughly..... - or wait, rather: I mean to say is that they did not deliver to my expectations. Expectations based on earlier expansions - obviously them saying "I will do better next time" time and again without actually doing so is just meat for the grinder.

If you want to go into examples about that wife thingy... She used to cook my dinner so well and the sex was awesome but after a few years of marriage, these 2 things started to decline for my personal taste. She did change a few things too. I used to love going with her to parties and socialise. Nowadays she rather stays at home watching paint dry. The cooking is still decent and the sex... oh well I am having sex right? But I feel kind of alone when I go to parties now. But I feel guilty in doing so. Still I love her and I don't want to give her up. But I really need to have a continuous discussion with her as to why this is and why after our previous talk she still has not learned or told me that she will never change back into what I loved about her previous years.

She does her best though to please me because she loves me (my money). She even brought in more staff.. I mean another girl to spice things up for me. But I don't want that. I want her and her way of how she used to do things. Whenever we go out, we do not socialise anymore. We do not meet new people. People around us are just random strangers now instead of potential friends.

Ehh you get used to it. Just learn to take anything Activision-Blizzard says with a grain of salt.

I find that it helps if you play this song while reading patch notes:

if there is this much blizzard hate just stop playing blizzard games. unsub go away stop posting on forums. show them your disdain with your lack of paying for their products. go outside discover outdoor content! learn to fly....do the quests to get a pilots licence that lets you fly from your home hearth to your daily hub(work) grind your rep for the day for meaningless rewards that you only get once a week. pay your repair fees!! enjoy no content that you cant afford to get because of your daily repair fees. (and the cost of flying mount fuel) and finally die alone because you winged about the life game so much that you dont have a healer to rezz you. HAVE FUN!
“Listen, three eyes,” he said, “don’t you try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.”

I do not think they were confident about WotLK launch...afterall WotLk was competing against the first WoW expansion which was wildly successful which is why they had to grease the gears for extra measure.

Legion is with cautious anticipation by players and I know many players are waiting on the sidelines because it still isn't delivering what Blizzard has promised thus far.

When did they start allowing the edgy teenage Demon Hunters to post?

    You can't be serious.
