Only because if he did then it would be harder for them to have a show. Although allowing him to go up against a group of the Elite Four could give them something to go by. At least then we could see more of his Pokemon again.

It really wouldn't be harder for them. I mean, there is Tons of story they could go on with for Ash, including him actually facing the elite four for once. Not to mention, he would still want to continue to put his skills to the test against the new regions, or even revisit older regions to see how they have changed with the introduction of new species. It would be a great way for him to catch up with old friends. Or even a way to have a time skip put in so he could Finally grow up a bit.

Those 3rd stages look more like cover legendaries than starter pokemon.

That's what i call "overtuned"... too much detail for a non-legendairy.

Somehow i am still hoping for the owl to be a flier and not yet another bulky grass starter. :P

With how many fan/alternative-ideas are being incorporated in this game i wouldn't be surprised if they evolved only once (just like in uranium).

Welp, I'm going back to hating the Bewear line. The pre-evo at first saved it for me until I saw in this trailer that it had this kind of "stuffed animal info tag" sticking out of its butt. Crab looks decent for now.
