Yeah, I didn't realize how hard it would be until after I limited myself down to 5. I'm not that satisfied either tbh, there are other girls like illya/Chloe that I love but didn't pick. I didn't take illya because she's too pure for me. And Chloe because then I would have 4/5 lolis and you guys would just call me a pedo.

Seems it is 3rd or 4th attempt is the charm - I have finally made it to episode 6 of SSY and enjoying it much more than before. It's decent but I have a feeling (from all the chat here) that it'll get even better. I really do enjoy the tone of the show, and love the ED.

That's the way it was for me too. Eventually it just clicked and I couldn't stop watching. It's easily one of my top 3. I think I rewatched it a week later. The ED is probably the collective favorite of the thread. Glad you're enjoying.

Amaama manga 36 - I kept expecting Tsumugi to blurt out that Kotori is the one helping her dad learn how to cook. I also expected a little more drama out of the talk with Kotori's parents.

ReLIFE 138-140 - Kaizaki finally admitted to himself that he loves Hishiron. About time. This manga is good about introducing conflict and tension and working it out to make it comfortable and fun again.

Iroha from Oregairu (scheming & spunk), Sawako from Kimi ni Todoke (sweet & oblivious), Kanade from Dandelion (bossy & blunt), Shinobu from Chihayafuru (autism), and Caster from Carnival Phantasm (obsessed with Kanade, loyal to me)

They're not my favorites, but they'd make a fun harem.

91 Days 7 - Great episode, again. I like how Fio got involved into the story this time and I didn't notice it before but her design is really great.

I had the same thought. Fio's design really stood out to me as well; it's not extravagant but very elegant and attractive.

91 Days 07 - Holy shit, Angelo is getting to Monte Cristo levels of revenge here. Forcing Nero to kill his own brother was amazing.

Overall I was very impressed with this episode. Thus far I thought 91 Days was simply "solid" but this episode was executed masterfully. It's not just that the events were impactful, but that they flowed naturally from everything that was happening. Angelo's role in particular was superb. Beyond this, the pacing was also spot on and every scene felt meaningful. Even the beginning bit where Ronaldo pleasures Fio had a specific purpose: to show that her eventual murder of him wasn't spurred by hatred or was the result of a bad relationship. She just cared about her family more. If the next few episodes are anywhere near to this as they culminate I would happily list this as the best anime I've seen this year.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time 8/10 (Very good)

That's been on my "to watch" list for so long I'd forgotten it was there.

Watashi and Haydee would both be really good contenders for me as well. Akane Tsunemori of "Psycho Pass" and Misaki Nakahara from "Welcome to the NHK" would also score high on my list. If we're not limited to anime then I do also have a soft spot for Shouko Nishimiya from "Koe no Katachi" (although this soon will be animated). If that isn't acceptable, then I think Reki from "Haibane Renmei" would be an interesting person to be around.

That's an interesting way of going about it. I'm not sure I could claim as much of a sense of familiarity to design such a well-oiled group.

Well I had to go about it that way because most of my favorite girls are either tsundere or not particularly interested or involved in a romantic plot. Chihaya is my absolute favorite female character but the romance in her series is a secondary aspect. Shouko and Yukino follow her, but I like them more for being interesting and well-written characters than for being "waifu material."

If I did have to add a tsundere to my harem, though, it'd have to be Maki from Love Live because she's cute about it (though you could argue she's not a tsundere because there's no romance in LL) and her character design is just downright attractive. Ayano from Yuru Yuri is my favorite tsundere but she's in middle school, so there's that.

For me Shouko and Misaki tend to be the type of female personality I find highly attractive. Isolation and suffering deepens the soul in ways that cannot be replicated. Although I feel odd at times trying to explain this, because it sounds like I actively wish this on people or that I somehow find the suffering itself attractive (neither of which are true).

Other than this, I chose Akane for her inherent sympathy with people coupled with an ability to maintain her convictions in the face of great challenges. Watashi is on the list for her intelligence and wit, and I can identify with her light cynicism of others. Haydee is perhaps the only one on there because I thought she was simply a great character whom I would like to know, not because I have a particular affinity for her. Finally Reki was very real to me, how she cared for those around her deeply even as she faced her own internal struggles.

Not sure if putting all these together in a room would be a good idea, or a recipe for collective depression.
