I play wow for 9 years, i've been from hardcore player to softcore, i still raid mythic and go to the game everyday for 1 hour, the days i raid it's 3 hours week days and with this it helps me save money. I don't go out every night. I play football in a amatuer football league. I go out with my friends, i work i have a girlfriend, yes some wow players have girlfriends right? lol. The point is you need to organize and still have time to do your stuff and play a bit. I just stopped with the TV witch also i dont mind at all. TV is bad.

Play anything else? WoW is so bad right now, that playing literally any other game and actually having fun will make you quit WoW. You would just be trading x for y, but that's a start.

My god. It's like intelligent design. You're really trying to pretend that Stormfront doesn't hold National Socialist ideals, or that somehow National Socialism is somehow not representative of those ideals? I mock you. Literally.

Edit: Also, whether or not the O.P. holds those ideals, sorry for hijacking your thread. I'll leave now.

Switch your sub to time cards so it doesn't auto-renew.
Splurge on in-game cravings if you have too much gold to avoid stocking up on tokens.

It will come naturally, when you have to make a conscious effort to add time to the game.
You'll start thinking about it in terms of "what do I want to do this month? Is it worth my time?" "What did Blizzard add to the game to earn my money?"

So you'll skip a month or two, then more, eventually you'll move on to other forms of entertainment and stop thinking about it.

It's a bunch of bullshit you're telling yourself. Neurotransmitters yadda, blah - it's a great exuse when you don't have the balls to admit to yourself that you're a weak and ridiculous person with a lack of responsibility, self-control and constructive lifestyle.

People lie to themselves regarding addictions so much it's not even funny. "I want to quit" is the #1 lie. Most ofthen they don't WANT. They recognize they SHOULD or NEED to quit, but they don't really WANT it. And that's a big and important difference.
I quit smoking after ~15 years, I know what I'm talking about.

If you don't wanna play it anymore, would the solution not just to be to you know... not play it? Unless you still wanna play it, and just see that it is unhealthy for you, in which case just have your credit card holder or whatever block the billing to Blizzard so you can't be subbed anymore. You could also find something you would rather do with your time. Or keep playing because you actually seem to enjoy it as you keep doing it.

You know if you just delete your toons, delete the game, etc. you'll actually wind up missing it more and probably just wind up getting your toons undeleted?

Look don't take any drastic action. Just clear your toons mailboxes and unsubscribe. Get another game, but a single player one.

Yeah you're going to have to desire it more than anything. Honestly I wouldn't give everything away as then you'd literally be throwing away all the time you invested into the game. Find a way to quit on your own. I did it for the entirety of WoD and I didn't regret it. It let me do a lot of stuff. Just.. find ways to take a break. If you've really grinded the game this hard then there must not be much for you to obtain anymore. Just cut back on your goals in WoW. Like for example: If you're missing out on some rare 1% mount, farm it only on ONE toon a week. Or just keep some toons parked outside permanently and just do a weekly run for a couple hours of that one raid. Don't focus on so many things at once. I can very easily get the stuff done that I need to do on one character alone in an hour or two a night. It shouldn't consume you (except if you're trying to be a hardcore raider right at the start of the expac but that's differen) and so you shouldn't let it. Definitely see a psychiatrist though. Don't find one that tells you to quit forever and permanently but find somebody to talk to that can help you see the game as just a game and help you set some real life goals that will take up more of your time than WoW will.

LOL yeah fuck the established school of psychology. Neurowhatever right.

I don't see what this has to do with obesity lol considering I'm the farthest from obese and could probably snap you in half even though I haven't trained for almost a year now. Carbs aren't inherently bad, in fact they're the main source of the body's energy. But that's just science or whatever.

You will quit when you really want to quit/stop enjoying the game. If you keep coming back to the game then you don't really wanna quit, you just feel you SHOULD or think you would be doing better without WoW in your life. You should just accept the fact that you did enjoy those 9000 hours and still enjoy playing the game and shouldn't feel bad about it imo.
I was kinda in the same boat as you, wanting to quit be more social and stuff. It took me a while to accept that I'll never be like most of my friends who are a lot more active irl. I still meet with them and go out occasionally but I just simply enjoy gaming or chilling at home more. As long as you don't have health issues and have some contact with the outside world, you are doing okay. Just gotta find that balance.

Yeah, because it has nothing to do with your problem. Your problem aren't neurotransmitters - guess what, I have those too, just like anyone else who doesn't have your problem. Which is weak personality and crap character. Can't rommel your way out of that.

If you need help to quit smoking you should go to a medic not a pharmacy.

    a) I never said I had an issue with neurotransmitters in the first place
    b) that's as stupid as saying "what do you mean your heart doesn't work properly? I've got a heart and it works fine you weak pussy."

It's always the "tough" ones like you that I see going in for methadone treatment lol.

Let's stay on topic and not go off on to irrelevant tangents.

here s how you do it.

take a vacation 2 weeks to a month. somewhere far from home.
before going, get rid of your computer if you can or clean your hard drive from wow, including bookmarks etc

have fun in your vacation and when you come back get some activities together to replace your time playing wow.

when someone wants to stop drinking, he needs to get rid of all bottles from his home and must not drink "just a little"

    - Sell everything you have: equip, bank stuff, reagent. Everything.
    - Donate all your gold to some nerdlord.
    - Delete all your profession.
    - Delete all your toons.
    - Install a honor bot, fishing bot or gathering bot.
    - Let it run for a while and make a video about it.
    - Send a mail to Blizzard with that video attached.
    - Uninstall WoW and forget about it.
    - Enjoy your wowless life.
