Because the President of the United States is the one who should be throwing sandbags and driving boats to catch stranded people on rooftops right?
He gives the orders for natural disaster respondents (FEMA, National Guard, etc) to do their jobs. Why would he need to be physically down there himself?
Besides, Reuters is reporting Obama is going to visit next week.

And not to mention this is a rain event not expected to happen more than once every . . . five hundred years.

"It is a major ordeal, they free up the interstate for him. We have to take hundreds of local first responders, police officers, sheriffs, deputies and state troopers to provide security for that type of visit.” -Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards.
“I would just as soon have those people engaged in the response rather than trying to secure the president. So I’d ask him to wait, if he would, another couple weeks." -Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards.

I'm not sure how people can say the media was ignoring it. It was the main headline on at least three different Mainstream sites for two straight days. Comparing it to Katrina is a bit ridiculous, since almost 2,000 people died during Katrina. As much as it sucks to lose your home, it's just stuff.
If you don't want to live in an area that is prone to flooding, then don't live there. You are taking a risk, just like those living on the coast of California take a risk of earthquakes, or those in the Midwest have the risk of suicide by boredom.
I've been aware of it for a few days now. The news has made mention of it soooo I dunno what you are talking about.

Lol double standards are classy.

Liberals weren't mad at Bush for not going to Louisiana. They were mad that he appointed a guy with no qualifications to head FEMA, and then bungled the entire recovery operation incredibly badly. I know this is difficult to process for someone just looking for excuses to whine about liberals, but we don't concern ourselves with cute photo ops. We concern ourselves with substance and results.
I don't think Bush was wrong for not going to New Orleans after Katrina. It was the staggeringly slow response from the Federal Government to do their fucking jobs when a natural disaster like that strikes.
No President should be at a site like that, while the emergency is still ongoing. What are they going to do, besides take up resources that could be used helping people?

Yeah no, he was critizied for not going since not going was not caring about African Americans. I don't care either way because I know how the game works, something goes wrong on your watch the opposition will use it to flog you. Just funny how 10+ years makes folk forget how the shoe was on the other foot last time.

Nobody is even implying Liberals are never wrong. Stop with that strawman. I wouldn't say Bush was evil, more so incompetnant and an idiot during the Katrina. At best Trump is just doing for political points. Secondly I believe Leeonis said an editorial criticized Obama when the Louisiana floods happened. Even so, at most Obama should acknowledge it. Being there himself isn't a necessity.

Clearly creating more awareness of a disaster never leads to a significant increase in the amount of resources allocated to dealing with the disaster. Or maybe people should just stop being mindless sheeple and accept the fact that (in light of the DNC leaks) most of the main stream media is in the pocked of the democratic party, and for some reason this situation has a semi-blackout imposed on it (likely because the main topics of conversation have been designated to be either Trump bashing or setting up a 'regime change' in Syria).
Most people would rather die than think, and most people do. -Bertrand Russell
Before the camps, I regarded the existence of nationality as something that shouldn’t be noticed - nationality did not really exist, only humanity. But in the camps one learns: if you belong to a successful nation you are protected and you survive. If you are part of universal humanity - too bad for you -Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
