    Which class solely for gathering?

    Hey there,

I am undecided which char I should use solely for farming (of course, only two out of three):
    - herbs
    - skins
    - ores

    1. DK with On a pale horse would benefit from moving around, mostly usable for herbs and ores. Skins are gathered normally on one place, not moving around much.

    2. DH have plenty of mobility unmounted and their slow fall can be useful, too.

    3. Druids are great once flying is enabled.

    4. Any class since we can get mount speed increases by using the blacksmithing thingy?

I am tending to 2. in tank specc. Whats your opinion?

    Cheers,
    Sol

Druid, always. Cat form has a passive speed boost iirc, nice for grabbing nodes while questing, and of course when we have flying they will hands down be the best just because they don't have to dismount/mount all the time. Double jump on DH would be nice, but it's not like there are nodes that only they can get.

Druids not having to mount/dismount may not seem like much, but there are a lot of times where I play leapfrog with another farmer (They get one node, I get ahead and get the next node, they get ahead of me ect), Druids generally just lap me. And until flying, you are simply on par with everyone else.

You would obviously want herb/mining for a druid, I run skinning on my main since that requires more active farming, which I'm typically already doing on my main compared to an alt.

Rogue is also a solid choice with stealth and 30% passive speed buff.
    Just because I'm a gamer doesn't mean I drive a Honda.

DH probably if your doing mining/herbing as the double jump will help you get over small cliffs etc
    Druid when you get flying
Hunter for skinning -> pet + ranged attacks for pulling large groups quickly and easily.

Skinning materials will (I expect) be disproportionally expensive compared to mining and herbing due to node sharing (assuming demand is largely equal for all 3). Skinning doesn't benefit from this sharing and will therefore be in shorter supply

You go with whatever one of that you can do really well at escape and evasion on. I have tons of practice on a night elf druid who continues to be my main gathering alt. Cyclone, roots, sprint, shadowmeld, stealth...

Druids are the best at everything, really, even more so at gathering.

not to mention sap /blind for enemies near nodes(unless those skills were gutted...idk)
    and vanish/shadowmeld(if nelf)

rogue is a very good choice until the point flying comes up then druids overtake em.
(then again does the mop gatherer engineering mount robot thing still work, or only on mop stuff?

but yeah, quicker you get out of combat, or having ways to prevent it in the first place, the quicker you're going to the next node.
Still I cry, tears like pouring rain, Innocent is my lurid pain.

Good call. Quite a fail since I do main a rogue and haven't thought about adding that class. As an explanation: I currently have LW/Enchanting on him (and got quite an amount of old recipes. Not that I need them, but I do HAVE them, so there's a mental barrier to unlearn those professions).

I still don't know what to do. I want to level two chars on release, max three. My main (rogue) and the other dudes just feeding him. Most of the time I will play the rogue to gear him, do world quests and so forth, but I don't mind putting in a farming session once in a while (actually, I remember how chilled it was to cruise around Ungoro or Sholazar Basin to farm ores, doing it for hours after raids, chitchatting on teamspeak). I gather that leatherworking would suit me, so I need leathers. Juwelcrafting is not to bad either, but then I'd need ores. Enchanting for merely disenchanting could be done on an alt, the recipes I browsed through do not seem to consume Blood of Sargeras, so I wouldn't need to farm that on the enchanter.

So right now I am tending to

    Rogue: Leatherworking/ Jewelcrafting
    DH: Skinning, Enchanting
    Druid: Ores/Herbs

It never was that complicated to

    a) choose a class to play
    b) choosing professions

    Damnit

Don't forget the pally. 20% passive mount speed increase. There are buffs that a blacksmith can craft (25 leystone ore i think) that allow you to gather while mounted. Haven't tried it (this is one of the few gadget recipes that you need 800 skill to craft), but I heard it works for both Herb & Mining.

When flying is active, this also lessens the importance of a druid as gatherer, except for the instant mounting the first time. you can even prevent "dazed" with a leatherworking buff item (again, skill 800 required) to be equal to the druid after the first mount-up.

Yeah, "Leatherworking giving crit? Easy choice!". Good times.

Pally == DK then, good to know. I don't like Paladin tho, managed to level one this expac the first time for 10 years of playing. He is sitting at ~610 and gathering dust.

    Which class solely for gathering?

Sky Golem if you don't want to be druid and want to gather herbs without dismounting

DH is going to be no.1 imo, and more than anything it will be enjoyable

If you are expecting to gather and make money in legion you are out of luck

Price are going to be high the first few weeks, then the bots are going to drive the prices so low it's going to be laughable.

    Rogue obviously.

stealth, sap, vanish. Everything to gloriously avoid combat.

Twice the fun on PVP servers.

You think it will be that bad? Not that i would complain, less time spent on farming mats for raids

Rogues hands down. Sap mine vanish.

    Sap, stun, mine, vanish.

Or stealth past mobs guarding a path.

i would say the class which can make use of the stuff and the looted blood of sargeras with its other profession.

There is no more Leap Frog with Herb/Ore nodes, if Player A starts gathering it you can run and start to gather it also and you both will get materials. Once a node is tapped it sicks around for X seconds before it despawns, this way there is no more node stealing.

Anybody can gather without dismounting and have a 20% mount speed boost, both are available as consumables from a BS, both are also increased to 4x duration if that character is a BS.
When I was younger I used to hope bad things wouldn't happen.
Now I just hope they're at least funny when they do.
