Is Shokugeki no Souma really as good as people make it out to be? The premise of the show seems pretty dumb in my opinion (although that's not to say that many popular series' don't have dumb premises either) but there seems to be a lot of hype around it.

Short answer: Yeah, kinda.
Long answer: It all depends. Basically, it's a Shonen battle manga, where the battles are cooking contests, instead of fights. If you're a fan of shows like Iron Chef, Chopped or Cutthroat Kitchen, then you'll like this series. If you're a fan of comedy/fanservice you'll like this series, if you're a fan of Iron Chef AND fanservice, you'll LOVE this series.

I mean currently the most watched anime of this season on "unofficial" sites are 2 shows with "naughty" in their description, this being one of them and the top spot (because apparently the other show is flat out softcore porn and the admins keep deleting views to let it keep the top). That is pretty much all you need to know :P
To me it's pure cringe, but then I don't find the whole cooking thing interesting either.

The end didn't even live up to my expectations and they were middle of the road, at best, and this chapter was still incredibly lame. Of course there was no way he could fit in every single thing into the epilogue in one chapter, it would have had to be another two chapters to fit it all in, but pacing has always been terrible in Bleach so that's no surprise there.
Ignoring for a moment how dumb it is or not, it doesn't even make sense that their kid inherited a power that is only specific to a singular person. Orihime's Fullbring powers are only for her, else if that was the case down the road we could have people breeding to just get as many abilities as possible. If their kid had any Fullbring powers it would be his own, not his mom's.Ichigo's kid giving the actual final blow to Yhwach was fine. Bad guy got fingered.
Getting Soul Reaper powers is one thing, as that is basically a race in this universe, but Fullbring is something that really almost anyone can do and they had explained that all those with those abilities got them because a Hallow attacked their mother during birth, or some such nonsense.

As dumb as that plot device was I have to agree that it would have been much better as an ending than either of the two arcs that came after it.

Not too sure I'd say fine, but definitely didn't expect much more I suppose.
I just wanna know what happened to Kisuke :x
I blame SAO for making people assume incest
Agree with both of these. Renji from the start wanted to free Rukia in the first arc, and he even betrayed Soul Society to do so after fighting Ichigo.
Still a bit strange though.

Well... to say this ending was dissapointing is to say nothing. It was even worse than I expected and I had very low expectations of this manga from Fullbring arc onward. Seriously, this should have ended when Ichigo defeated Aizen and lost his powers. That would be fitting and for me, this is the ending.
Worse than expected
Wasted so many years of my life
Cannot even say who is at fault here. Kubo, or shonen?
WSJ are 100% responsible for this clusterfuck of an ending. Kubo had plans for 1000 chapters, with a full 500 being just this arc. Instead he has to wrap the whole thing up in just over half that time.
Think of a story, a really great one. Plan it out so it's just how you want it to be. Now half it.
It's GOING to be shit.

I don't know how this arc could have been dragged on by that much. It had been going on for quite a while, I would imagine that it went somewhat far before the publishers started giving him a deadline. (I say this because it seemed like the arc had been going incredibly slow for quite a while and then it suddenly started to seem like it was moving way too fast.)Things certainly could have been more detailed regarding the story and fights, but not 500 chapters worth.
Kubo isn't entirely innocent, the series itself has been going downhill for a long time. Shonen Jump certainly played a huge part in how poor the series ended, though. I think Kubo would benefit more with what Kishi is planning to do with his next series with the monthly issues if he decides to do another one. Less rushing and he'll have more time to flesh out everything.

What we got here was just a Naruto rip off..... and Naruto is not that much better of an anime.... and Narutos ending threw out all of the themes and character building they did..... Naruto was just destined to be great all along...
Its just... oh yeah random villain with godly powers is dieded..... now here are all the character ships!

To be fair, who wants to read a 500 chapter Bleach arc. Like all the Sternritter shit was already annoying. Nobody cared about 99.9% percent of them.
